Can Someone Please Make a /customRestore with this Boot Screen

I just can't seem to get the tool to work in Windows. What I'm asking is a lot. I'm willing to even pay someone to create this file so I can restore with this file and it will boot up to the screen file attached.

I've got a iPhone, updated to 2.0 firmware which i sync with my XP machine. I also use my MacBook however, is there any way to copy music/videos to my iphone from whichever computer i happen to be using, without it wiping existing tracks/videos from the other computer?

Cydia Error when refreshing sources

I cant seem to get rid of this error no matter what i do , when refreshing sources , or even starting cydia up , it just shows this error for a second on the upper left side , and then it disappears :
Error : sub-process gzip returned an error code (1)...

for that i can see nothing new in the changes tab , like macman game and other stuff..

Can notes.db be opened on a PC or firmware 2.0?

I just upgraded my (1st gen) iphone to firmware 2.0. Before I done this I took a copy of the notes.db file from var/Mobile/Library/Notes.

I also did a backup using iTunes but the restore is failing.

I have copied the notes.db back to my iphone using ssh but they are not being displayed. Also if I try to add a new note then it doesn't get saved. It is like the new firmware stores them in a different format.

If I go back to the default notes.db I can then create/delete/modify notes ok.

Is there a way to open the notes.db on a PC to extract the data and allow me to copy these into an a text file so I can re-enter them manually?

This is probably a really stupid question... but anyway,

How exactely do you pwn the phone? i have pwned itunes, but i don't think i have pwned the iphone itself.

Is just putting it in DFU mode 'pwning' it? because a lot of guides ive read for 2.0.0.2 don't have steps to do the phone, the only thing you do to the phone is DFU & restore..

Force mail to fetch mail faster for 2.0!!

Okay since I couldn't find out how to change how frequently my mail app fetches mail (more than every 15 minutes) on the 2.0 firmware i decided to do it myself.

As you should all know apple changed a lot of things in the 2.0 firmware. Thats why the previous method is not effective on 2.0

But there is a new very similar way... brought to you by me (todanator)

1. Okay first you have to have a jailbroken ipod/iphone with openssh installed.
And have your fetch data settings set to 15 minutes.
You must then log into your ipod.
I prefer to use Cyberduck
(if you don't know how... look it up on youtube)

2. You must then navigate to the directory....
"/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences"

3. Then go to the plist file called com.apple.persistentconnection.plist and download it to your comp.

4. if you don't have something that lets you read/edit the plist already you can go to Convert Apple Property list from binary to text XML and convert it into a readable file.... and no you don't have to reconvert it back.

5. once you've got it open with something, look for the
900

6. the 900 is the seconds between each time mail goes and gets your mail
so you can change it to something like 300 for 5 minutes or 120 for 2 ect.

7. once you've edited that save it and replace the old plist file with your
new and improved one.

If you check your fetch settings it will say manual... its lying to you.
test it out and you'll see!

just purchased DAY BANK from the app store because i wanted a check register on the iphone. so i gave them my $4 and when it finished installing, i click the icon and it just crashes back to the home screen.

i've rebooted, reinstalled the app and i'm still getting the same result. i read the reviews for this app and only one other person had the same problem. i made a report to apple but i havent heard from them yet.

i was so used to downloading an app and just wouldn't work but when one is downloaded from the APP STORE, this kind of problem should not happen, especially when it is not free.

anyways, anyone have had the same problem on this app, or any priced app from the app store that crashes? and what to do? i want my money back!!!

I think I may be in over my head on this one....
I sucessfully used the PwnageTool to.....well, do whatever it did...
But now what?

I am not new to the iPhone but am clueless on hacking...I hacked my iPhone back when jailbreaking first came about when all u could do was like change an icon or two. I only kept it that way for about a week then changed it back to normal. I decided to hack my phone again since I have a new 3G phone on the way. Now, it is A LOT different.

My friend has his jailbroke and has video recording, a hot babe on his home screen, a new keyboard, different icons, etc. I want all that!
I tried using Cydia but i dont understand all that computer language. I dont even understand the description of the apps given. I successfully installed like two apps but nothin that did much.

What happened to the phonedmg folder way of hackin it?

please help and please use laman terms cause I need iPhone hacking for dummies.....

i ran fine with 2.0 for about a week. now, i just got the possprefs and poof off cydia, then the springboard had this rotatiing thing for some time then i restarted (power+home button) and now i'm stuck with the silver pineapple...
does someone know what to do?

Installer not working

Hey im having some problems with installer.
I just manually installed the new vista maximus perfection theme and i added a skin over the installer app.
but now it doesnt work.
I can load and it works properly but when i fist load it it come up with a screen that says it wasnt installed correctly and should be run as "root:wheel."
and because of that i can no longer install items it just gives me"main script execution failed"
Is there anyway to reinstall installer without having to restore and do it over again?
If anyone could help me that would be great.

O.k i upgraded my iphone to 2.0 and of course it screwed my phone up, after a week i actually got the screen back up and could play MP3's (yay) only problem was i couldn't dial out or get a cellular signal. I then tried to lower the baseband no luck on that i got an error saying that bootloader 3.9_m3s2 and it can't change the baseband/ loader. So what can i do to use my phone i'm desperate i have not been able to use my phone since July 11th. Thanks in advance

I just got done reading an article about Apple and AT&T. Apparently they are in the process of testing a beta version of 2.1 firmware. They're saying that its a firmware that should fix some of the bugs in 2.0, and also provide cardinal direction for the GPS and background push notification. Now, all that does sound great and all. But my question is about Cydia. Will it have to be redone again to be compatible with the new 2.1 firmware that's apparently due in September? In a way, I think I already have an answer to that question. Looking back at Installer, there were different jailbreaks for each of the firmwares. So, I guess what I'm really doing or saying here is, "heads-up, there's a new firmware coming our way!"
I'd like to say thank you to all the hard working developers out there. You guys definately make owning an iPhone/iPhone 3G/iPod touch really enjoyable! I hope to see many great things poppin' in Cydia. I get really excited everytime I see an update. It's like Christmas everytime! LoL. Again thanks, we all appreciate the hard work.

This is what i did...

After you successfully create your custom firmware close out WinPwn.

We are skipping WinPwn Itunes Pwner and doing it manually with Xpwn.

MAKE SURE YOUR Iphone is Uplugged at this point!

Use task manager and close all things apple: iTunes, iTunesHelper, etc.

Now download these 2 things:
http://www.iphone-dev.org/xpwn/xpwn-windows-nightly.zip
AND
SourceForge.net: Downloading ...

Now install libusb-win32-filter. if your using vista then you need to set the compatability to WinXp SP2 BEFORE installing it or it will hose your system. news:libusb-win32-filter_under_vista [iPhone Dev Team]

After that extract xpwn zip to something easy like C:\XPWN

now copy you custom firmware into that directory and for easy sake rename it Custom.ipsw

run: itunespwn custom.ipsw

Plug in your Iphone, itunes should not come up at all, if it does then you did not close out all applethings. Only when all apple things are closed should you continue or it will not work!

Put your phone in DFU mode. check out youtube because its makes it really easy

run: dfu-util custom.ipsw n82ap . n82ap = 3G iPhone, m68ap = First-generation iPhone, n45ap = iPod touch

THIS WILL START and you will see a bunch of crap go across your screen. just wait till is says its done and your IPHONE screen SHOULD BE WHITE!!!

If it turned white then you are good to go. Open Itunes and it should popup saying it needs to be restored. Shift-Click restore and open up your Custom.ipsw. TADA!!! NO MORE 160X ERRORS and it installs perfectly =P

Need Help with internet settings for 8 gig iphone

ok here's a short story on what's up. I bought my wife a used iphone, had it unlocked because we use tmobile. Then paid another guy to help me get it working to where it will get internet on the 5.99 plan. We have the 5.99 plan but we can only get internet when we're @ wireless modems. She wants to be able to view all her pic messages and has swirly on it and some other crap she'll probably never use. The 2nd guy i got to help me won't return my call so i can catch up to him and i cannot remember exactly where his apartment is and which one it is. When we power it up it shows the ipwn logo on it and he said he updated it to the newest firmware. I would really appreciate any help in getting this resolved so she can get the internet we're paying for on her phone. She's considering selling it but hell, i've got over 400.00 invested in it now and i refuse to let her sell it over this. So if you can help me or give me a step by step so i can get this done i would again appreciate it. Also there is an upgrade of " bossprefs version 1.73 " that is asking me to update but i'm not doing it unless i know it won't lock this phone back up. When i go into the swirly program and hit fetch " she has 15 messages" it says the proxy and mmsc needs to be set. so i hope this helps in troubleshooting this.

Hello.

It's just three days since I've came into the world of Jail-breaking.

I have Jail-broken my iPod Touch with Ziphone when I heard about Jail-Breaking. And, today, I saw tons of thread that says Ziphone downgrades the bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9, which is horrible to use.

Further, there's no software method to restore it. (is this seriously true?)
So, I am regretting what I did to my little treasure.

The only thing that I am able to hope for last is "Ziphone doesn't downgrade the B.T. of iPod Touch." because everybody who has problem is using iPhone but not iPod Touch, Nobody.

Does Ziphone downgrades iPod's or not? please hopefully NOT.

P.S. Plz don't say there's no Boot loader in iPod Touch. It can't be true. First, OS of iPhone and iPod Touch are based on same thing. Second, Boot loader means the program that starts the "chain reaction" which ends with the entire operating system being loaded is known as bootstrap loader.

When you going to choose your file after shift + restore make sure u rename the custom file to: iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw this way it wil trick itunes thats it is installing original 1.1.4 when is really restoring 2.0 I hope this helps it took me hours of trial en error , to find this. I went through all the steps in making the custom firmware and pwning Itunes but i didnt go through with it all and didnt have my iphone plugged in. I shut down Itunes.

Does this mean that when i restart itunes and plug in my iphone, my itunes will be pwned still or back to normal? I just wanted to see how it all worked, not actually do it yet.

Is it safe to open itunes and sync my iphone now?
what does it mean exactly when you pwn itunes?

So for the first time i loaded up Cydia a popup asked me to install the essential package or ignore it. i clicked to install it. Now after 5min the last line is: setting up cydia sources(0-5)...

ok so i got psx for all i got some roms put them in the phone set permissions all that stuff, now, i tap psx 4 all and i currently have breath of fire 3 and 4, now bof3 , i tap to load, it starts telling me all the FPS and such across the top of the screen makes a few clicks sounds, then goes back to home screen, so i figured bad rom, so i tap on bof4 and it actually shows the capcom logo like the game is starting ( which it is) then after that, right before the menu loads, it makes the click sounds then goes back to home menu, so if i recall, BoF3 the capcom intro is more "graphical" than the bof4 capcom intro, so both games "shut-off" when it starts to get to the more graphical parts of the games it seems to me, i havnt tried any other games so any help is greatly appreciated

[How To] Jailbreak 3g iPhone AT&T Customers

This is for legit ATT Customers (ie. those who have a 3g iphone plan on their account). This will only jailbreak your phone and add Cydia, which currently has limited applications.

1. First, download and install the latest 2.0 firmware from HERE

2. Then download the latest version of Winpwn (currently 2.0.0.2) from HERE

3. Install Winpwn and open it up (windows vista users may have to right click on the Winpwn icon and select "Run as administrator").

4. When Winpwn opens, click on "Browse .ipsw" and navigate to the ipsw file you downloaded in step 1.

The following text should be displayed:

5. Then click on "IPSW BUILDER".
Applications Tab: Check only "Install Cydia"
Custom Images Tab: Optional to change the boot images
Custom Payload: Do not touch
Advanced: Uncheck all boxes, including activate phone

VERY IMPORTANT: If you are a legit ATT Customer and do not uncheck activate phone you may not pick up service after you jailbreak your iphone and install the custom firmware.

6. Then hit "Build .ipsw" and let Winpwn do its thing. This may take a while and your computer may seem like it is frozen, let it run and try not to run any other applications.

7. With iTunes open, click iPwner in the main Winpwn window. You may get an error message saying pwning failed. If this happens, iTunes will have closed. Just hit iPwner again with iTunes closed and you should get a message in a few moments saying "iTunes Pwned".

8. Now boot your phone in DFU mode by first holding down the home and power buttons for around 9 seconds (you will see the slide to unlock button pop up, keep holding, the phone will shut off). About two seconds after the phone shuts off, let go of the power button but continue to hold the home button. Make sure your computer's sound is on because several seconds later you will hear iTunes recognize your phone, then you can let go of the home button. iTunes shoudl tell you that your phone must be recovered, which is what we wanted.

9. Now hold down the shift key and click on the "restore" button in iTunes. Browse to your custom firmware (.ipsw file you created earlier) and let iTunes restore your phone.

When it is all done you should have Cydia installed and that means you are jailbroken.

Any questions or clarifications needed let me know. I made this specifically for ATT 3g customers because the Winpwn thread got long and confusing and it took me a while to figure out.

I use to have a G1 iPhone and read Manga using iComic. Now that I am on iPhone 3G with Rogers(in Toronto, Canada) I can't seem to read manga anymore. iTunes resizes your files and when you try to zoom in the pictures/words become blurry.

Is there a way to read manga on the iPhone 3G without jailbreaking it?

iPhone has such an amazing screen it would be a sin not to use it to read manga!

Well from my previos post i was able to get 1.1.4 back on my iphone and was running ok. I did want to try running 2.0 again so try to update with itunes am getting error 1604. with my iphone stuck in restore mode once again. Any ideas on what I might have done wrong? Followed the upgrade guide on here to the t including the DFU instructions which did work and that is how I had tried the restore. 7.7 would not recognize unless in this restore mode. please help

Hello everybody.

I know im asking for alot but i really need the help of those who are skilled at this. I have an iPhone v1.0.2 and i am using iTunes version 7.4.1(2) on a Mac 1.33ghz PopwerPC G4 (Laptop).

I made the mistake of trying too mod my iphone myself but i didnt do a great job at all! My iphone is ALREADY UNLOCKED! I am using tmobile on it.

The problem is the mods i attempted to put on suck and i downloaded the Installer on to it but when ever i go to it it freezes the entire iPhone and i have to power down and restart.

To make matters worse my friend had someone mod his and it had EVERYTHING i wanted on mine!

WINPWN problem and errors

Ok here is how to fix MOST of your issues. Restore your iphone to factory settings. Let itunes download the firmware. For some reason the firmware that is being linked to isn't a good firmware download. You have to be lucky to get it to work which people have got it to work. I had no luck what so ever. After itunes downloads the firmware Go into your c:\documents and settings\"Your user"\application data\itunes\iphone software updates and copy the firmware apple downloaded to your desktop. Now use this firmware and create your custom PWN file. WAHLAH!!!! This worked for me and it will most likely work for you!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS FOR XP. Vista users should find it in the same place except for its under the c:\users directory and not the documents directory!!!

I'll start by giving you a little insight as to how I got in this predicament. I bought an iPhone from a friend who had already registered his through ATT but was not jailbroken. I put my simcard in and unlocked/jailbroke the phone and begin to download apps. My phone locked up after using Boss Tools to free up disc space. After hours of trouble shooting I was FINALLY able to restore my phone through iTunes. However, it is now upgraded to 2.0.

I currently have service with ATT. When I plug in my phone through iTunes ATT asks that i register it. I want to avoid doing this.. Is there anyway i can unlock my phone while it is on the iTunes/USB screen? Or do I have to register it to ATT. (I dont really want ATT to know i have this)

I just downloaded an earlier version of iTunes (7.6) and tried to restore it w/ 1.1.4 but iTunes is not detecting my iPhone! (I DLed 7.5 first but it wouldnt find it either)

So why is everyone hatin on ZiPhone?

I am reading all these negative posts about using Ziphone & I am really kinda baffled... I have used ZiPhone to unlock more iPhones then I can remember & no one has ever reported any problems to me. I need my iphone back as soon as possible, I can even pay for it.

Any ideas, how to unlock it, how to downgrade it succesfully?

I took the info concerning the iPhone. I am presently with At&T without contract. I explained the salesman that I was interested to buy the iPhone 3G with a 3 years contract, with my actual fixed rate, WITHOUT DATA, because I want to only use the Wi-Fi spot.
The problem is that the salesman says I must take the DATA cause even if the 3G service is deactivated on the iphone, and I try using the WI-FI installed at home, it won�t work. AT&T will be the network connecting to my iphone automatically( not the 3G because I desactivate it on the iPhone), and it�d be very expensive. How could I be completely sure that Intenet works with the WI-FI only and not with the 3G service or AT&T to avoid extreme monthly bills.
Is there any way on the iPhone to be complety sure that the AT&T network will not run!

I have done a clean install of Winpwn 2.0.0.2

I have got itunes 7.7

I have got the bootloaders, and the 2.0 restore firmware

I add Cydia and select the correct advanced settings (got them from some linked guides)

But everytime i go to build ipsw, it gets to rebuilding root......

then winpwn either crashes or says 'ipsw creation failed!'

could anyone suggest what the problem could be?

Anyone else come across this? My iPhone and now 4 people I know who all have first Gen. iPhones, running firmware 2.0,unlocked, all of a sudden started getting free data. The thing is none of us actually have signed up for a data plan, we just have regular voice plans and noticed today that edge was working. When I called Rogers to make sure I was not all of a sudden on a data plan, they told me I was not and my plan is the same. I kept my mouth shut and as of right now I and four of my friends have free data. Is this a screw up by Rogers and are more people out there also noticing this?

Hey guys, this is my first post and i am still new to ipod/iphone modding...

With that out of the way I took my love for surrealism and made a cool unlock screen....

I am also including the original image in case someone wants to out due me and make this look good. My photo shopping skills are not so great. The idea here is to have a painting where a part of the painting slides to unlock. If you have ideas for other paintings to do this with please upload them here so we have a big collection

The first file should be used as your Lockscreen wallpaper, the second file as your MainSlider. You will also have to use an invisible bottom bar, which I had as part of my other themes. Lastly in customize 2.0 go to edit strings and edit the unlock screen to just a space bar character.

Trouble Answering Calls on iPhone 2.0 Pwned

Just wondering, has anyone else been having trouble answering phone calls while the phone is locked? what happens is ill get a call, then try to slide the bar over and it doesnt move... then ill hit the home button and it answers the call but brings me to the home screen.

I upgraded my iphone to 2.0 and unlocked it with the new firmware by the dev team~ everything was fine except when i tried to restore it gave me a message saying error while restoring (-36)...so i tried just manually drag my music into the iphone and i got an error message saying "required files cannot be found"...I've already uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes so i dont know what to do...

Can someone please educate me on the matter? I with the help of some great patient people winpwn 2.0 my 1st gen IPhone.

The thing is I could only accomplish it one way of many and that included NOT selecting Cydia package. I know there is a fix coming out for the Cydia windows problem, but how do i get Cydia on my IPhone do i follow all the steps i did to Pwn it again? or can i use windows total commander to move it over manually? can i do it manually now or do I still have to wait for the fix to come out? I was wondering where all the application data is stored on the Iphone ? I know there is an Application folder but that does clearly not hold all of the information.

Info: I'm trying to edit an application I've installed to see if I can improve it, I then plan on either using it solely on my Iphone or sending it to the original developer as an improved version of their software and allowing them to decide whether to release it.

I have no bad intentions in doing this and so I hope someone can/will help me out :-D

I have a iPod 20 GB Model A1059 with remote. The thing stopped working and I have no idea why so I just bought another one. Pictures are below and actually is in great condition. I am looking for $35 shipped.

so for starters I need to recover my firmware to version 347 from 345 in order for this to work? 2ndly, Im already using my 3g iphone on Rogers, what do i need to do differently from the guide? What is this youtube fix anyways? Do i need to activate the phone even though its already activated?

I bought my 3g today and many in nyc have said they can unlock/jail break and can even bring my sim to test out and pay them after it is done,if so how come no one here has done it yet?

i might take mines to get it done tomorrow.

hello all,

I got the first generation iphone and it was unlocked by one of my friend. I moved out of state and lost his fone numbers so could not contact him anymore.
My iphone currently work on t-mobile network, software version 1.0.2 (1C28), Modem firmware is 03.14.08_G. I'd like to upgrade to version 1.1.4 and unclock it again so it can be used on T-mobile network so how do I do it, any one who had done please give me some step what do do please.

Not new to the forum but new to posting here so be kind. I searched for my question and found nothing.

I was wondering if there is anyway to develop Iphone apps in windows ? I tried turning my PC into a hackintosh but no drivers for my Wifi make it a no go...

Any information would be appreciated...

2. Download this .rar file: LEVELS.rar
3. SSH in your phone and put both files in /private/var/mobile/Application/(find the Labyrinth folder)/Documents/Levels
4. Set permissions to 755
5. Enjoy the 65 levels! :)
