V-Moda has provided me with a press kit for their Vibe Duo Headphones. V-MODA’s Vibe Duo headset is the ultimate in mobility, audio-enthusiast sound, and comfort. Featuring compatibility with iPhone and amazing high-definition sound, Vibe Duo’s minimalist all-metal design integrates a discrete microphone that blends seamlessly with a durable black fabric cable and is remarkably lightweight. The microphone’s convenient call/music control button can easily switch between chatting on the phone and listening to your music library.

Likes
  • These just look great, the silver colored accents really set them off.
  • Aluminum construction. Lightweight and and strong these things are built to last.
  • The chord is woven fabric. No cheap plastic to be stretched and destroyed on these things.
  • Three sizes of ear fittings. Comfortable, secure, custom fit for most anyone.
  • Black and clear ear fittings for your individual taste.
  • Microphone provides clear quality while on call.
  • Great sound. The stock iphone earphones do not compare. Solid bass, crisp highs, and clear mids.
  • Feature button allows you to switch from music to call, pause music, skip tracks, and end the call.
  • Great job blocking out outside noise so you can enjoy your tunes in peace.
  • Nice leather carrying pouch to store the headphones.

Dislikes

Conclusion

These headphones are great. The construction is of the highest quality and reeks of style. After using my stock Apple Earphones for a couple months I can not express how happy I am with the Vibe Duos. The sound quality is excellent, I have been using cheap earphones for so long I forgot what music really sounds like. Simply amazing, the difference is night and day.

These headphones fit great with absolute security. While you might think the all metal construction and the fabric wire would add weight, I haven't noticed a difference. They stay in your ears with comfort, and are secure enough for working out with no worry about them falling out, providing great sound the entire time.

While on the phone people can hear me talk clearly; the microphone seems to be just as high quality as the speakers providing clear communication. The feature button is conveniently located and provides all the functions that the original apple headphones do with out any problems.

Rating

9.8/10 --- not 10/10 just in case something out there is better, I don't know what could be better though.

Where to buy

Get your own pair from the MMi Store. Also available via the V-Moda Site.

Wirelessground.com had kindly provided me with their iPhone USB Cradle. Synchronize and recharge your iPhone with the iPhone USB Sync and Charge Cradle (with AC Charger). The USB Docking Cradle holds your iPhone at a comfortable reading angle and provides convenient access on your desk. Charge and synchronize data simultaneously when connected to your MAC or PC. The black finish matches your iPhone perfectly

Likes
  • Looks good.
  • Chaging from the wall or the computer.
  • The cradle has sync capability
  • LED indicator tells you when the cradle has power.
  • Stable. This cradle isn't going to tip over easily.

Dislikes
  • On occasion the sync will fail for me, estimated 5% of the time.
  • No audio out port. If it had an audio out I don't think I could ask for more.

Conclusion

This cradle is a nice third party solution for docking your iPhone. At $22.95 it is half the price of the iPhone Dock from Apple.com. I would personally be completely content if this dock had an audio out. Currently I use this cradle at my office, where it looks nice on my desk, and looks a lot better than just plugging my iPhone into the wall. I also have no need for a audio out at my office so this cradle fits my purposes perfectly. I have no major issues with the cradle and am pleased with it thus far.

8.2/10

Where to buy

You can get this cradle for $22.95 from WirelessGround

Recently Prima was kind enough to provide me with their Book Style iPhone Case. Made of Soft, Aniline Leather, the Prima iPhone Case continues the tradition of Fine Leather Form Fit Cases, at an affordable price. Dedicated fit for the iPhone, with a low profile design that fits easily into your purse or pocket.

Likes:
  • The price is affordable at $34.95.
  • Front is held closed magnetically.
  • Access to the all the buttons: volume, lock, home and sleep.
  • Audio port is unblocked so you can plug in and listen to music.
  • Charging / USB slot is open so you can charge and synce without taking the phone out of the case.
  • Lots of protection, no fear of damage from drops.

Dislikes
  • Adds some thickness, a sacrafice for protection.
  • The light detector that turns the screen off while you are holding the phone to talk is covered.
  • Speaker and microphone are both covered making the sound muffled and requiring you to talk a little louder.

Conclusion

If you really want to protect your iphone you can't go wrong with this case. It does have a few drawbacks but will no doubt protect your iphone very well. The affordable price makes it an easy buy, and the leather quality is good for the money. If you are worried about adding some bulk I wouldn't recommend this case to you. It does what it is built to do very well, protection.

Rating

7.5/10

Where to get it

You can this case straight from Prima.

I Need an FM Transmitter http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17747&goto=newpost Thu, 22 Nov 2007 18:06:43 GMT Hey,

Well I'm currently looking for an FM transmitter, and since I'm going shopping tomorrow (Black Friday), I was wondering
what FM transmitters work best, and if there are any that specifically work for the iPhone. Also, what about the voltage? I know that iPhones only take 5 Volts and iPods take 10 so I'm worried about the charger/transmitter burning out my phone. Thanks

iPhone in the Car http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16984&goto=newpost Sun, 18 Nov 2007 20:15:14 GMT I made this last weekend , and have been checking it out all week.

The iPhone mates nicely into the A4's system
It will play the iPod audio as a well as the iRadio station through my cars audio system.
The phone will ring through the audio input also.

I modified a standard iPod base to include a cable for audio out and power in.
This cable then would get soldered to the connector here in the base.
Sorry, I don't have a pic of that.

a

Other end of the cable goes to the audio-in of the adapter for the Audi Head Unit, and also to ignition-switched +12V.
The iPhone power connected at this point on the connector will take 8-30VDC.

Note the Head unit sez 'CD' when in fact, the adapter tricks the H/U into opening the audio-inputs.
Thats' how I get iPhone audio out and power in.
Yes, it charges the iPhone, and pauses the iPod stream when the ignition is turned off, restarts the iPod play when the ignition comes back on.

<![CDATA[SkullCandy GI's Modded with mic]]> http://www.modmyifone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16794&goto=newpost Sat, 17 Nov 2007 20:49:33 GMT So I got my GI's and was happy but they would work in my iphone, no music no nothing. Some people have been modding the plug which is cool but this lets you get full functionality of the Iphone. I have searched far and wide and seemed to be the first to try this as my surprise.

I split apart the old Skullcandy Gi's and desoldered the wires. Took my original Apple ear buds and grinded them around the speaker till they popped out and then desoldered both left and right wires. Ran the Apple wires thru the case and soldered them in and WALLA! Now great sound and when someone calls your ringtone plays like usual. Now when Im skating or snowboarding I dont have to carry a mp3 player to enjoy my Skullcandies or just my iphone and no music thru these wonderful heaphones. Now best of both worlds, no loss in quality and in call is great. Only thing you loose is the volume control on the wire itself.

I was going to just mod those so earlier in the day I picked up some Sony headphones that looked a bit easier to open up. Well needless to say, with this problem I decided I will just keep my new replacement ones in case something happens as I cannot seem to live without the Push Talk button.

I called the Apple store on 5th Ave NY in search of the V moda headphones that seem to be sold out at every other store. Well needless to say, they claimed to have "enough for even tomorrow". Well I head over there a bit later since its a 24 hour store (3am since I was in the city anyways not having the push button aggravated me to no end).

I get there, and the sales rep tells me they sold out, and they dont know when they will get anymore.

Well end of my rant, I saw a set of ultimate Ears Super.Fi4vi. It also comes with the push button and hands free microphone which sold me. Even at the 150 dollar price tag, which isn't that bad (160 after tax).

Here is a link since most Apple stores might not have them. The sales rep had never even seen it, and I was the first one to get them.

I have learned alot and I do not even have a Iphone yet ( damn pay day won't get here fast enuff) and I look forward to helping out around here as much as I can .

Now my real question, after reading the reviews is seems like the Agent 18 case seems to be the case of choice for most. Like everyone else, I seem to like the sleekness of the case, and the toughness with the hard plastic. I see only one problem, it has no type of holder or belt clip, something I am not sure if I like. I am not a big fan of having big things in my pockets. I am wondering if the iphone with the agent 18 case, could fit into some sort of hip type case or pouch. Anyone have a clue? ]]>

Came across this new "SONY Stereo Bluetooth® Headset: DR-BT30Q" over the net the other day, and wondering if anyone has tried this with the iphone as of yet? Seems like a pretty sweet wireless headset that can be used for both listening to music, AND voice conversation. If anyone has these or tried them, please post comments as I would love to hear some of your feedback before I actually go ahead and order myself a set. ;), costumer reviews online seem to be pretty good, but no ones posted anything in regards to using it with iphones. Any feedback at this point would be greatly appreciated!!!

My expectations for wireless stereo headset = no wires obvs!!! no back of the neck support, no ear buds, something relatively comfortable...

I wanted a product that was able to not only charge the iPhone's battery, but to be very portable. This product seemed to meet what I needed.

The unit comes with 2 lithium batteries. The units itself has a sync port for the iPhone to plug in. It flips in (for storage) and out (for charging). The sync port is adjustable, allowing different thickness of iPods to seat correctly. This part of it is somewhat troublesome...sometimes the connection between the phone and charger wasn't making good contact. Eventually, the iPhone would start charging. The unit itself is a bit flimsy, and can probably break if not handled properly (the whole unit is plastic).

When I plug in the charger, the iPhone recognizes it. A little blue LED starts to flash periodically. It seems that when the charging almost completes, the LED starts to flash a bit faster.

One thing to note when using the charger is that the iPhone can only fit in the charger. If you have a case for your phone (those cases made by Contour or Belkin, or possibly those silicone slip-ons), you have to remove the phone from the cases. The phone won't fit correctly.

From what I can tell from using this accessory, I can say that it seems to work for the iPhone. :)

The unit sells for about $30.
