I really don't like how some applications are using the Default.png to show their screen while they are loading.

For example, Finder.app shows an empty screen for a while, then loads up.

I suggest everyone use a dimmed (darker) version of their screen with the word "Loading..." superimposed to make clear what is happening. (Though in some cases it is actually initializing, I guess.)

(Oh, I suggest Microstyle Bold Extended (like Microgramma Extended) for the word ;) )

Then the screen brightens when the program is actually usable.

i was wondering, is there any app for the iPhone that hack wifi keys?

For those who don't know, semacodes are kind of two-dimensional barcodes. Little black and white grids of squares that are used to encode text, generally a URL.

In Europe and Japan they are often used for advertising, among other things. An ad will contain a small semacode in one corner that resolves to a URL. There are free java apps for most phones that will use the camera to take a photo of the semacode and then open the URL in the phone's browser.

Some high flying types even have them on their business cards, pointing to their web site or something.

I am trying to get into the Stacks folder but it just launches the app. I keep hearing about people getting into their app folder looking for files, but everytime it would just load the app for me. Also, with the text editor, can i change plist files on the phone itself? if so, how can I?

The ability to create different "Folders" on the springboard, such as "Games", "Unused", etc... So that the Springboard is not cluttered with things that I don't use all the time, but occasionally...

Everytime I plug my iphone into my speaker dock it tells me that they were not made for the iphone and that I should press yes to turn phone into airplane safe mode to eliminate all the static noise from the cell signal, Which is great, but now with this nice iradio app to stream web radio it would be nice to listen to the stations through the speaker dock and it cant because when you switch plane safe on you lose all wireless signals including wifi,

Be great if we could keep the wifi on.

I say this cause I have an iPod Touch rather than an iPhone, so I usually dont have a connection handy when I'm on the go. One app in particular I'd LOVE to have on my Touch as a native app is Bejeweled. Anyone managed to pull that off? How bout bookworm? That one is more of wishfull thinking, I dont think I've seen that one even available as a web based app.

Would a graphing calculator on the iPhone be too difficult? They already have a computer emulator. I actually have it on my computer now. If you go check out the wiki site for the TI-83 plus graphing calculator it doesn't use up very much power or memory. In fact the calculator itself only need 6 MHz of processing power and less than 512 kb of flash rom. With the calculator already commercially emulated for the PC would this be a very difficult task to accomplish. I know I would get a ton of use out of it. And if buttons were only the size of the iphones keyboard keys, there should be plenty of room for all of the buttons.

A friend got the new SonyEricsson phone which has this BADASS app on it that you put it up to your radio or what have you and it analyzes and tells you what the song is, artist and album. It's actually very acurate and very cool. Also, does anyone remember EvilLyrics for PC? That would be VERY cool as an iPhone app... Just some thoughts. ;)

ok, so I made a php file that gives you the 64bit date key needed for installer sources.

when you add this key to your package it will show up under the recent packages catagory.

also, it will generate the md5sum needed for the hash key that will be required soon.

I've never used php b4 today and have limited html experience, so if the code sucks or is messy sorry.

The cant figure out 2 things.
1: you need to define the absolute directory of the files you want the info for. This is stupid, should php know what directory its running from? look at the bottom of the example and you'll see "D:/...". any way to get rid of the D:/??? as I used getcwd.

2: I dont care to hash or get the date key for the "." and ".." entries. any way to skip that?

Using Web-based SMS Services

Hi there,

i would like to start develop iPhone native apps.
My first plan is to make an app which allows the user to send SMS via the internet (e.g. by email). To make it more comfortable, the user should be able to access his contact list and after the message was send to the server by email, it should be added to the SMS database.

The list of the resources i need:

- access contacts and let user choose number
- send email on the default account
- add entry to the sms database of the iphone

It would be great if someone could give me some links to start reading about the possibilities. I have JAVA and C experiences.

automatically program a time when the phone shutdown total and put on.

for example.... during the night.... i sleep at 24:00 so between the 24:00 and the 8:00AM that i wake up... there 8 hours that i dont need the phone...

i think an app, like the alarm, that all the days between monday and friday, the phone automatically shut down at specific time...and put on at specific time.

with this we can save maybe 1 day more of batterie.

is the same that if i manually shutdown the phone all the days.... but i forget to do it..

So recently I just downloaded the applications into my iphone :). But the thing is ... I installed summer board, customize, tap tap revolution and lights off just for now. Lights off is working fine. On summer board 2.11 I turned the scroll snap to on and then went back to home page.. it didnt work :(. For customize I changed the theme to leopard and it didnt work either :(. Whats wrong? Help please? Thanks :p

Recently I installed Mobile RSS. But i can't get any feeds in it. I found the menu to enter in the feeds but that doesn't seem to work. I guess I'm not typing in the feeds the way i should. Does anybody know how to add the feeds?

Or is there a better app to read RSS feeds?

Hi all.
I think I've gotten the toolchain set up on a fresh Leopard install, but when trying to compile the example projects (helloworld and flipacoin) in XCode, I end up with ~35 errors, starting with:
"error: libkern/arm/OSByteOrder.h: No such file or directory"

I've searched and that file does not exist on the computer. Other errors include:
"error: arm/_structs.h: No such file or directory"
"error: parse error before '_STRUCT_MCONTEXT'"
"error: parse error before '__DARWIN_ALIAS_C'"
"error: parse error before '__DARWIN_1050'"
"error: #error "Unknown architecture.""

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm new to Mac OS development and I'm not sure what's going on here.

I dont know if this is a topic that has been discussed before, and if it has just give a link for it, but when I installed customize 1.1.7 on a 1.1.2 jailbroken phone, it automatically added "demo app" and "field zone" or something like that. I used iPhoneList to deleted both of those, but now it has the "contacts" on the springboard and I cannot figure out how to delete it, or which file in iPhoneList to delete to get it off my springboard.

Any help is much appreciated.

Winter Themes + Snow effects

I know that there was a thread about this a while back but as it seems to have died let me request again a winter theme + falling snow app.

The theme will be relatively easy and I'm sure they will start appearing soon however the falling snow app will no doubt take more time.

This has all been raised before in previous thread but just to remind everyone I woudl imagine that the Ants application coudl be simply modded to replace the Ants with Snowlake icons and then change their behaviour to fall in line with the aspect of the iPhone. As you turn the iPhone the flakes would follow gravity and if you shake the phone they would disappear.

Anybody up to this? I'm a sucker for Christmas and would love to see it.

Know it's strange to request this.

I know there is an ebook on the New King James Version on iPhone. Hope someone is kind enough to make an ebook on the NIV (New International Version) of it.

Have tried searching all around for it. But all ends up with just the PDF version of it. And it's very hard to get around using the PDF viewer.

If there is any programs that can convert normal pdf to ebook style, please let me know. But it's best to have someone who can make out one of it.

Req: Nice launcher

anybody who can make a nice looking Launcher? The Launcher app today is kinda boring (and the text is to big :p ). It should launch in a cool way, like sliding up from the bottom or even cooler: flip the springboard over (like dubbeltapping on a CD in iPod). Not a big deal but if you use the launcher like me, i have one "page" on the springboard and the rest of my apps in the launcher, it would be nice with a cooler launcher. Categories in the launcher would be awsome!

Which languages do i have to learn if i want to be able to program 3rd party apps on my iphone? I have a basic C++ backround but i really wanna dive deeper into it and into creating some apps for my phone.

Hey, just wondering if someone could design a quick app for me. I simply want to press a button on the SpringBoard and be taken into "~Media/Photos/Thumbs/F3004_1.ithmb"
If possible to use the following icon for the App:

*Edit the Icon if it will make it look better*
If you could also do a quick breakdown if the installation it would really be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Landscape Springboard

Would it be possible for, in the next version of Summerboard to have the ability to switch into landscape mode by rotating the iPhone? Just an idea.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently developing a simple synthesizer for the iPhone. At the moment it contains a sawtooth oscillator(not bandlimited or anything), a lowpass filter and a keyboard. This is a very early alpha, I don't think i've spent more than a couple of hours coding it, but i'm looking forward to improve it. One cool feature though is that you control the lowpass filter by tilting your phone.

I'm creating an installer source file, and I was wondering if there was any way to check if a file exists on the iPhone/iPod touch through the install script?

The http://iphone.nullriver.com/beta/ site is outdated, but I know of the following commands:

so is there a list on some other site?

The only one I need is a FileExists or something but can't find documentation.

I love my manga scans, and what better way to look at them then to have them in an archive like .rar or .zip and be able to view the contents one picture at a time.

I was wondering if anyone would figure out a crude port of this, as it is extremely useful.

app to manage extended springboard pages

I think it would be great if we had an app that lets you order all the icons on the different pages of the springboard. What I mean is that I would like to put all my favorite apps on the springboard lets say I have 9. Then instead of waiting for 16 icons to come up just so they would I can have icons show up on another page I would like to be able to just keep 9 of of the icons on the springboard then make another page that would have the rest of the not so used icons. The closest that anything is to this is Customize but you cant order the extended spring board apps and you cant limit the number of icons on the springboard. Any ideas?

I was wondering if anyone was working with the Hottrix.com videos to try and make them into APPS. For example, someone can make an x-ray app where it uses the camera to project your hand as an xray hand or when you turn your iphone the iBeer will start to pour, etc. I think it would be something that everyone would want. I just want to know if there have been any attempts made to create them. Thanks =)
