Hi, Just got new Iphone (1.1.1) so very satysfied (I've drop my nokia - never go back)... till the moment I wanna to connect to my macbook (OSX 10.4.11 m.1.5 GB). I cannot see my Iphone anywhere.?. from other side (with toolchain) i've backup all my datas from the phone (sucsessfully)... any ideas?

I really need some help here, My iphone is with at&t and has never been hacked or modded. I want to start but have NO Idea how or where to start. okay so ive read read and read many things but none seem to work it either tells me unable to connect or shows up as connected but when i try to use safari it says can't find the network
but the wifi signal is full but doesn't seem to work
even an ip address shows up on the phone but i'm unable to do anything
i'm using windows vista on a toshiba laptop wich was purchased in august brand new
it has built in wifi and my cable internet connection is through comcast using their motorola surfboard modem i want to update my phone since im using 1.02 to 111 or 112
but can't without my wifi conection

iTunes 7.5 and Outlook 2002

HI!

I have an iPhone running on 1.1.1 and I am using Win XP and Outlook 2002 but I can't get my iPhone to sync with iTunes 7.5. Although iTunes shows me Outlook as an option under info, I can even select the check box or both the Calender and Contacts but when I press sync it shows syncing with iPhone but the iPhone doesnt get synced.

I've gone over posts by users regarding this and tried almost everything stated there but still doesnt sync.

Any ideas on how I can make it sync?

Ok well my iPhone I have had for the last 2 months went to crap battery would die in 2 hours. Well I revirginized my upgraded to 1.1.1 phone and took it to apple store today they couldnt even get the thing to restore after finally getting it to turn on after 30 minutes. Well they replaced the phone its a week 44 judging from the serial and my and its 1.1.1 firmware and I turned it on and it goes right to the home screen and I can access everything. Anyone have clue as to how its not going to the activate with itunes screen ?? Not that I mind :D

I am on 1.1.1 unlocked using rogers and jailbroken. But am wondering if there is a solution for using another sim card and jailbreaking a updated 1.1.1 to 1.1.2

I know there is a long process to jailbreak a 1.1.2 but is there a way to use anysim so i can use my ROGERS sim card?

i've got kind of a weird question. my stepdad is a at&t customer with just some old v551 motorola phone. he was given yes given an iphone by a lady he works with who took it from her son after he proved he couldn't stay out of trouble in school with it. my stepdad wants to use the iphone but putting his SIM card in just makes the phone say something like, invalid SIM connect to itunes to register. now the question........if he just connects it to itunes and goes through the regular registration, will it work? also, i think the "kid" bought it on his own AT&T account (with money from his parents) and since his mom pretty much took it from him, what if the kid reported it stolen? will connecting it to itunes still allow my stepdad to use it? thanks for any info you've got on this weird situation.

I have an unlocked 1.0.2 4gb iPhone

I am pretty sure my battery is ******. Last night it just wouldnt turn on. I left it charging overnight, tried to reset this morning, and finally got it back on, but the battery will not charge, leading me to believe I need a replacement.

Can anybody recommend somewhere in NYC where I can get a replacement asap? Or a reliable online battery replacement site?

I noticed my speaker phone volume is almost non existent, while the ipod plays fine through the speaker. On the Apple forum someone suggested upgrading to 1.1.2 fixes this. So just to be clear, if I do this it will delete all of my apps? Or do I have to downgrade or something first before even attempting the upgrade?

Before i return the iphone to apple for replacement, what else i should do?

Recently my iphone touch screen is dead, so i have to go to US (i live in Canada) in this weekend and hopefully i can get the phone replaced. My phone was running 1.1.1 FW, then the problem arise and i tried to restore to 1.1.1, not working, then i restore to 1.0.2, still didn't work. So my question is, in the state of my phone, will they be able to check if the iphone had been jailbroken? i don't want them to question me if i've signed up with AT&T.

Several issue I think they will not check if im AT&T user is:
1) The touch screen doesn't work at all, they can't check my IMEI # at all
2) I think the method for 1.1.1 jailbreak doesn't screw up the IMEI #, so if i restore back to 1.0.2 it should still be ok?

Please help me if you know can give me some input guys! thanks!

Everything works fin on my iphone. All the programs and everything else except when i go to the phone kep pad all the buttons work but zero and star, pound. Help! Iphone always hang when wakeup from sleep /standby

I noticed once every 2-3 days, when I try to wake up my phone from sleep status, I pressed the wake/sleep button as usual, what I get is a black screen with nothing on it and the phone is not respond at all.

I end up have to restart it by pressing sleep/wake + home button and it works again.

anyone come across with similar problem? and any way to solve that?

STORY: I upgraded to 1.1.2 and used idemocracy to jailbreak my iphone, it said jailbreak successful but there was no installer .app on it. I just ignored it and said whatever i tried i will just wait till February for the apple third party update. Anyways, that night my while i was using my iPhone the screen turned bright white and shut off. I plugged it into my computer and after a few tries finally got a successful restore. It worked and i went to bed. This morning i got up and it was black again. I tried restoring it, no luck, tried to restore on another computer, nothing. Even on one computer it said no sim installed, and thats weird because i am with at&t. (by the way it gave me the 1011 error code every other time i tried to restore it) Anyways i tried it on a mac and i finally after about 6 times got a successful restore. It didn't have any previous back up of my phones like the other two computers so it just restored it completely free with nothing on it, no settings or anything. After about 10 minutes, same problem. I am taking this to the apple store tomorrow to try to fix it. QUESTION: Since I restored it so many times on a clean slate computer, will they be able to tell i jailbreaked it at all or tried too. I don't want them to just tell me to leave because i jailbreaked my phone. Should i lie to the genius? Will they have any proof i jailbreaked it and therefore be able to revoke my warranty on getting a replacement phone? Please help i am stressing out!:eek:

Iphone firmware 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 questions, nuances

So I am still running my unlocked 1.0.2 iphone and somewhat tempted to run the newer firmware. I have a few question right now however that really need to be answered.

1. Particularly and most important, I find it annoying that each time I turn the display on to access the controls, I have to do the finger slide to unlock.

a. are there any programs third party or in the new firmware that removes this really annoying step?

2. A question about the new home button function (double tap home button to access itunes control)...

a. Does this function work when the display is locked meaning the screen is off, I double tap home button, does the iphone control show up?

I just find these screen unlock function really annoying about our iphones and wish there was a way to remove it all together because each time, I have to do like 3 or 4 steps just to change the song or play back a song.

Can someone give me addresses to new themes??

Hello everybody, first of all sorry for my really bad English!

Here's my problem: I bought 4 iPhones (1.1.1) in US and 3 of these are OK but 1 is "broken". At the beginnig it didnt start. It freeze in the activating screen. Trying and trying I could restore and make it run. I discover the problem. The Wifi module! When I disconnected it, everything works great. About a month ago, the wifi module didnt work except when I left the iPhone sleep for a few hours and then activate wifi. Doing this allow me to use the Wifi for a few minutes before it stop again and I have to restart and wait a few hours again.

Last week, I was trying to fix it, thinking (wrong) that was a firmware problem. I updated the unlock and working iphone to the new 1.1.2 firmware. Here starts my new hell... After installing it I could check that the problem still and now. The Wifi never work again. I tried to downgrade to 1.0.2 (include baseband) and nothing, NOT WORKING. I tried the original 1.1.1 firmware with same results. And now I cant unlock 1.1.1 firmware because I dont have WIFI and with iDemocracy 2 I cant use the Short Activace Method (Dont find the URL).

Worst of all, my battery drains SUPER FAST. In more or less 10 hours in Sleep mode it drains completely with Wifi "Off".

I think my problem is the Wifi module never get off and drains the battery all the Time....

Do you have any ideas? If I can only solve the Battery problem I'll be really really happy!

Anyone know how to disable wifi compleatly. Is there any "service" I could unload to disble it?

Best way to organize apps?

STACKS
The best (nicest looking:p) way to organize your apps would be with 4 or 5 stacks in the dock. One stack for games, one for phone stuff, one for internet stuff and one with utilites etc.. In the "games" stack is your 4 favourite games and on the top of the stack is a launcher with the rest of the games.

1. 4-5 stacks
2. rename stacks
3. use icons for the stack instead of the default "all-apps-in-the-stack-on-top-of-eachother"

is this possible? someone working on it or has everyone given up on stacks?

What do you think would be the best way to organize apps?

I had my phone on silent, and accidentally dropped it. It landed right on the switch to take it off / put it into silent mode. Now its just a useless switch thats not doing anything.

I looked in the settings, but I didn't find any option for it.
Did I miss something, or did Apple not put in something to let you manually change the mode its in?

I have sent a song to the ringtone list with "send a song" When i set my alarm it allows me to choose this song in the sound selction menu. When the alarm plays it only plays the stock sound for alarms??? anybody got any clused as to how to set my custom alarm tone and make it work?

hey guys...i just upgraded and hacked the 1.1.2 FW. i was all excited but since then i am seeing random application "crashes".

for example, sometime the ipod closes when i am doing anything in the ipod section and goes back to main screen..
the same thing happened when i was using youtube...

but when i reopen the apps its fine...
is this a bug.. has this happened to anyone ???

Hello.

My uncle has an unlocked iphone which is not supposed to be updated.
He accidently selected to update the iphone when opening itunes. He realized his mistake and immediately canceled, so we dont think the update went through. A few days later, the iphone would not charge.

When its plugged in, all he see's is a battery icon with a red bar; the charge never goes up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone know how much of the file system you can delete and still be able to restore? I ask this question after noticing that after a restore apps like navizon keep user info. Hello.

I have an iPhone that was on 1.1.1 (jailbreakme.com, anysim 1.1, t-mobile), but decided to upgrade to 1.1.2 due to the low receiver sound issue.

So, I tried upgrading to 1.1.2 using this guide:

I get to the part where I have to upgrade to 1.1.2 from 1.1.1, and when I did a restore using the 1.1.2 firmware, I am left with error 1604. Now my phone starts up every time at the DFU screen and is showing error 1604 every time I am restoring (using any firmware (1.0.2., 1.1.1, 1.1.2)). I tried iBrickr, like other threads suggested, and AppTapp Installer. They both are not working.

My last idea is to do something with the partitions via a partition editor, but I am scared at the moment.

Does anyone have any ideas of why this is happening and what I can do to resolve it?

However, i want to put some themes on my iphone, so does that mean i have to "jailbreak" it or can i just download an app that has an installer? As much I want to buy the component cable for my HDTV at home, i'll likely more often output to other TVs out of the house that just have composite. I'd like to hear if you lose a little or a lot in quality with this.

As well...are there any 3rd party cables out yet that support iPhone or a place to get the Apple cables cheaper. They just seem WAY overpriced.

I'm a novice when it comes to this. I live in Norway and I have just bought a iPhone from eBay. I think the firmware is 1.1.2. I wanted to use the iPhone as a mobile phone of course and know this works fine when you have firmware 1.1.1

So my question is. When I get the iPhone and it's 1.1.2, is all I have to do to downgrade it to 1.1.1 and jailbreak + unlock it? Or should I be able to unlock the 1.1.2 to work with any sim-card?

What's the easiest solution, since I'm a novice?

Got a question, and yet again my apologies if this question was already asked. I bought a iphone off ebay, but the person I bought it from did not include the receipt of purchase from the Apple store. So my question is in regards to warranty. If I happen to experience hardware troubles, and must look into getting it repaired, would they still take it in with just my serial number located in my iphone? 1.1.2 limits International -> Region Formats

On 1.1.1 with the International menu enabled, there was a much broader choice of "Region Formats" than what's available with 1.1.2.

For exemple, on 1.1.1 there's "Portuguese -> Brazil" available as a region, which is not there on 1.1.2 anymore.

Same thing for the international keyboards - 1.1.2 has considerably less than what was available with 1.1.1.

Is there a way to re-enable the left-out regions? Maybe using 1.1.1 files?

Or is this something that depends on Apple deciding to include more regions on future releases?

Step by step to convert dvd/video to iphone

I was able to convert dvd/video to iPhone using the Cucusoft iPhone Video Converter suite software I found on http://www.oursdownload.com/dvd-to-iphone.html So far, I'm really impressed with how easy it is to use and how effectively it got the job done.
1.Download the latest version http://www.oursdownload.com/dvd-to-iphone.html ,and install it. You can know more about it by referring here.

2.Insert the DVD you'd like to convert to your computer's DVD drive.

3. Click 'File' menu and 'Open DVD', or directly hit 'Open DVD' button to load the DVD. Set the profile to be iPhone 480*320 mpeg-4 video which is the default DVD video quality.
4. Click around in the DVD's menu to set up DVD playback as you like, select the subtitle and audio sound tracks etc, then begin to play the movie through the software by click the play button.
5. The following window will pop up. Here, you can rename 'Title Name', set 'Save Path' and output quality, then click 'Yes' button to start ripping DVD to iPhone MP4 or iPhone H264 video from the point that the movie starts. That is all. Just so easy!

If you'd like to record from certain time point, or want to change some parameters like 'output format', 'video bitrates', 'frame rate', 'audio bitrates', please click 'No' button to close the window.

6.Optional parameters settings
* Select subtitles and languages
Click 'Subtitle' or 'Audio Track' in the 'Setting' menu, choose the related value you like.
* Set output formats
Choose the target file format from 'Profile'. The software supports converting DVD to iPhone 480*320 MP4 video,iPod MP4 video, iPod h264 video, MP3 audio.

* Set the start time to convert
Use the video playback controls to queue up the point at which you want to start ripping. Or click 'Setting -> Go to' and jump to previous/next chapter.

* More parameters
Click 'Setting -> Output video settings', here you can choose different profile, video/audio bitrates, video size, disable video/audio, aspect ratio, frame/sample rate, etc.
If you are not familiar with these options, please view the descriptions listed at the bottom of the window.

*Crop/cut&Resize the movie
If you want to make the widescreen dvd(16:9) to be outputted as fullscreen(4:3) video, you can use the crop function.
Set Crop to "Crop both black bands" and resize to be "stretch to full screen" if you don't need to keep the subtitle.
Set crop to "Crop the upper black band" so you can keep the subtitle in the down black band

*Direct/batch conversion
If you want to rip you DVD movie into one whole file, please use the direct ripping mode described above.
If you want to rip your DVD by chapters to into separated output files (for example your music DVDs, TV Episode DVDs), you can use the batch conversion rip mode, just ticket out the titles you want to convert and click convert.
You can switch this two modes by clicking on the mode-Direct&Batch.

7. Hit 'Convert' button, choose the recording time point and quality, then click 'Yes' to begin to convert DVD to iPhone video or audio quickly.

8. After ripping, transfer the converted files to iTunes, and then sync to iPhone.

So, i found myself at the "Genius Bar" today among the countless others awaiting to have their problem resolved by apple. The cause of my visit, albeit legitimate, was nonetheless nerve-racking and rather loooong. My iphone screen became unresponsive to my commands. Zero, nada, zilch was what would happen when i touched my screen. As im explaining this to the "genius" before me, i notice a glint of skepticism in his eyes while he slyly uncoils a usb cord to hookup my iphone and attempt a futile restore (three times i may add).
After much troubleshooting he resigns and informs me it will have to be replaced. Not that it made a difference to me, after all i had just purchased my iphone less than a week ago. No modding whatsoever was done, yet. But what happened next was just not right. He pulls out a small white box with what would appear to many as a spanking brand new iphone, which upon further inspection would reveal itself to be a refurbished iphone. At the time i did not know this. But my dubiousness did provoke me to ask mr. "genius" if this was indeed a refurbished unit to which he coyly replied "we aren't told if they are or not". Blasphemy!
I dont wanted to come off as malcontented, which i am not. After all i do have a working iphone. But what gets me is the fact that apple is replacing otb damaged iphones with refurbished ones. Its just not fair. If we pay new iphone money, shouldn't we get new iphone money replacements? I know im not alone on this one. I was wondering how many others out there have found themselves in this scenerio and are dubious about the life of their "new" replacements?

I tried adding my yahoo account and got this error:

Cannot get mail: The user name or passowrd for imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com is incorrect

When I tried to add a GMAIL account i get this error:

Gmail account verification failed
The POP server "pop.gmail.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field.

And YES, I did spell my username and passwords correct for BOTH.

Anyone one have any ideas?

Problem is, since i activated it with jailbreakme.com, the iTunes activation screen is gone.

So I was uninstalling some progs and deleted trip2pogo. It wouldn't restart like it usually does when exiting installer so I forced a complete reboot. Ever since then, it won't get past the apple. Any ideas? It's an unlocked 1.1.1.

If I try to do a restore, it'll try to put on 1.1.2.

I was hoping to take my at&t pda with my $20 plan and pop my sim in an iphone and be good to go. An at&t rep said that the iphone will work but without the $20 iphone plan I wont have internet/email.

The rep went on to say that I can drop my plan and pick up the iphone plan and then internet would work. The kicker is that he said that if I stick my sim back in my pda that the iphone plan will work fine and I'll have internet/email on my pda too.

I configured mail w the settings my i.t. guy gave me (we use Novell Groupwise- should this matter?) but every time I try to get my mail I get a "cannot get mail- the connection to the server failed" message. any thoughts/help greatly appreciated!

Phone Problem on the Wifes iPhone

If I call someone, it makes the call, and starts the timer, but I cant here anything and neither can the other person. The call still rings through on the other end, but thats it. The same thing happens on an incoming call. It will ring, but if i answer I cant here anything, and they cant hear me. "

No real changes on the phone. A few hours ago I opened installed, and started downloading iSolitare, but I closed the app before it finished downloading. Its running a jailbroken 1.1.1, with a full signal. She has tried a couple restarts, but nothings changed. Any idas?

UPDATE: Now it appears to be working, all by itself. Hm, I wonder if this was a tower issue...

Hi everyone,

Last night I plugged my iPhone into the cable I use with a wall charger every night - it started charging as it always does. A few seconds later it suddenly stopped charging (as if I had unplugged it). I didn't think anything of it, and left it overnight. This morning I saw that it had not charged at all. I tried putting it into the cradle - same thing; no charging, no connecting to iTunes.

I looked at the pins and it doesn't appear that any are bent or there is any damage. Rebooting the phone did not help.

Any ideas?

I should mention that yesterday I was getting "Call Failed" for most of the day, and people said they had trouble getting through to me ("phone shut off sounds").

Just shut off the iPhone and let it sit there for a few minutes. Then I placed it in the cradle (still shut off), and the apple logo came up, it booted up. BUT, it's still not charging or connecting to iTunes :(. Bah!

I installed the sysinfo app to see what is running and im not sure what to "kill" to free up space so that the iphone runs faster. Anyone have any insight on this that can help me?

Sorry to have to ask this but Im bad in this area.

My cousin is buying her husband an iphone from apple uk which has the 1.1.2 firmware on it,

Now she does not want to use the phone on a contract and already has a sim card she wants to use (vodafone) so wants it unlocking.

Am I right in saying that I can downgrade this for her from 1.1.2 to 1.1.1 and Jailbreak and unlock exactly the same way I did my out of the box 1.1.1

also is there anything special I will need to do like any baseband mods or anything like that,

My provider has both edge and gprs but i've never used edge before, just gprs (never had an edge capable phone)

I got the iphone and in EDGE settings i input the GPRS config I have allways used for my previews phones

and by doing that my phone works.. and it shows the little "E" icon on the top.. but if i call telcel they tell me they have no records of me using edge, that ive been using gprs.. whats up with this? do gprs settings go in the edge settings menu of the iphone ?

to be honest this is not correct.

I have installed entourage on my mac and I sync entourage and ical.
so, in ical, I have a calendar called entourage.

I have set in my sync preferences of the iphone, to place any new meeting in "entourage" calendar.

if I sync the phone with my mac, those meeting inserted in the iphone do not appear in ical, but they appear in entourage.

so what?!?

I had initial exchanged my first Iphone with a new one due to extremly hot battery..But now on this unit my usage meter under the settings does not work properly..I can charge the unit fully and then it will work for a short period and then go blank..The actual time varies so its hard to say if its a software issue or if my battery is bunk..It has been doing this with 1.1.1 and 1.1.2...also I am jailbroken but it did it even before that..Any idea?

I recently upgrade my iPhone to 1.1.2. Works fine, but...

I cannot disable EDGE. When I don't have a wifi signal and launch Safari it just connects using EDGE, this is VERY uncool as this will lead to a massive phone bill.

I tried the "normal" ways in the iPhone's own menu structure. I tried installing the Services application, there I can turn off EDGE but it doesn't get really turned off! (when I restart Services again EDGE is also back on again).

I basicly don't want to disable it by modifying files, as then I can't use EDGE when I deliberately want to use it (in a traffic jam or so).

HELP!

OK, so im sitting here at my computer surfing the web and i decide to check Installer for any new updates. I open installer and i realize the sources are taking forever to refresh. I notice my WiFi is not connected so i go into settings and select my WiFi (which has full reception). I go back into Installer and the sources refresh. 10 minutes later, when i want to go on Safari on my iPhone ( and im still next to my computer and router) my wifi is disconnected again. I go back into settings and it doesnt even auutomatically select my network. So i reselected it and again, 10 minutes later, it was no longer connected and i hadnt even moved once. this is really annoying especially when im on the itunes wifi store cause it keeps telling me to connect to a wifi out of nowhere. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. THIS IS SOOOOOO ANNOYING!!!:(:confused:

Ok please don't flame, but is it safe.

i've looked at a lot of other forum, and other sites on how to upgrade. but i don't think any of them protain to me, and i'm not willing to risk bricking my phone.
so i'm jail broken it using Ibrickr, and i still using AT&T so i haven't unlocked it.

so i'm wondering if someone can point me in the right direction and be damn sure about it, or could someone please just help in anyway.

Battery Dead??

So I bought my iPhone the day after the price dropped.. I dont know the exact date, but it hasnt been all that long..

this is what happenned..
Friday night, my battery was dieing, I plugged it in and it seemed to be charging (little lighting bolt on the battery) the battery seemed to keep discharging tho.. finally the battery died.
I have tried 3 different chargers and none have been able to charge the phone. The car charger I have has an LED on it.. that changes to orange from green when I plug it in.

I cant do anything.. holding down both buttons for a very long time does nothing also.

Does this mean the battery just went bad? or could it be a bigger issue like the charging part of the phone?

so i converted my mp3, and i ok so i just left the old mcca file there and i hit upload file and uploaded the newer one, and i named my song; wakeupshow .m4r , and i upload it and it shows up under the sound section but theres no song, like its silent and no music

well sense i got my phone i did alot of testing with all the mods and whatnot that wer out there, obviously there were alot that i discarded of but now i know exactaly whats out there and what i want.

Only problem is that my phones lagy as **** ( i assume because of all the stuff ive put on it )

My question is, sync my phone a final time, and do a restore, what will all be saved and what will i lose.
Like, will my contacts, pictures, bookmarks, etc be put back on the phone after the restore? or what will i be able to save?

Incoming calls don't wake iPhone

I've seen a few other posts, but no solutions.
I have a new 1.1.1 iPhone. When it's awake, I hear calls come in. When it goes to sleep, incoming calls do not wake it up and I get "missed call" message. When I press sleep button and it goes off to sleep. It will alert me to an incoming call if it comes in with in a minute or so, but after that... only missed calls

No the phone is not set up for EDGE. This happens in wireless and non-wireless environs.

I have also discovered that it will wake with incoming calls if it being charged up. But that still doesn't solve the problem

Any suggestions?

iPhone crashes in WAP settings

My iPhone seems to keep crashing everytime I try to enter the WAP settings in Settings > General > Network > WAP

I will type in the first address and when I move down to username it just crashes back to the Springboard. I've tried every combination of entries and still crashes.

I have reset and rebooted. Last resort will be to restore but I was wondering if anyone had a solution.

Iphone green or white only

1.i unlocked iphone using anysim.
2.used it for weeks, then plugged it in a car accessory for fm transmiting radio
3. all colors started going crazy.4.went to gym used it.worked.5got home plugged into itunes 7.3.2 and started doing some never before things. sync with contacts from my comp etc ..i pressed cancel on whatever it was tryin to do, i kinda force stopped it all..unplugged it etc. phone froze.shut down, and been tryin restoring on this and also the newer itunes on a dif comp. all i get is error at the end sayin not done..but makes sense since it was unlocked.thing is....

phone will not show anything besides white screen, or apple logo when restoring. ibrickr keeps giving green screen when i try to boot the phone. i uninstalled itunes...tried restoring last 3 versions, none can get the phone to work.
what can i do...i cant get rid of the white screen or green screen.thanks.

Unable to create SMS text - Phone goes to "Slide to Unlock"

Every time I attempt to create an SMS text, the phone automatically goes to "Slide to unlock". I'm unable to send out SMS text. I attempted to reboot my phone by pressing the home and on/off button for 10 seconds, restarting my phone, reviewing the SMS.DB in SQLite and I can't find a fix. I'm not sure if this error occurred after I downloaded some updates with the Customize app.

All other functions on my phone work, I'm able to answer calls, receive SMS texts, but I just can't respond or send out SMS texts.

iPhone Screen, Not touch sensitive on 1/2

Hello All. First, thanks to everyone on this forum who has been so helpful by posting the best walkthroughs on anything related to the iphone.

Yesterday my screen out of the blue lost functionality on the top half. By that I mean it displays images, but it will not respond to touch. The bottom half works fine. I have not made any software changes in that time (ie. it must be hardware failure). I was running an unlocked/jailbroken 1.1.1, I have since downgraded to 1.0.2. I use t-mobile. I am going to bring the phone to the apple store in hope of a replacement. Here is my question, do I need to virginize the phone because I don't believe they will be able to see what the baseband is. This is because you cannot click the Settings->About tab since it is on the top half of the screen. Also I don't think they can dial into the field test mode where the would also see the baseband. I will also remove my t-mobile sim before bringing it in. The phone will be restored to 1.0.2 (not virgin) and will be locked when I bring it in. Is there anything I should worry about? Will they be able to tell that I have unlocked this phone? Has anybody else been through this?

to check your diskspace on you iphone simply type df in terminal on your iphone,,,dont have mobile terminal!!!,,in winscp open command,or "terminal",then type df..its that simple...

we'll while i was trying to change my password on the iphone for winscp.. soo i edited the master.passwd with the new encrypted passwordd butt i ended up deleting master.passwd altogetherr... and noww my phone doesn't function normalllyy.. it won't let me use wifi and when i connect the phone to the usb it doesn't even recongize that its plugged inn but when i plug it in the power to charge it will charge... does anyone know anywayy to restore my phone to normall or atleast let me connect to itunes so i can do a restoree?

I have had my Iphone for two days and I either made the mistake of upgrading to 1.1.2 or it came that way but in order for me to use IMAGE DIALER i have to have the 1.1.1? or the can i have the latest version? Switching iphone from wireless b to g speeds

I noticed the speeds over my network are capped at 3-5megabits/sec. I know g should be higher than that, my internet is around 10-12megabits. I really don't think its hardware limited but it could be. Is there a way to switch the specification, because i think the comm device is set in a or b mode instead of g mode? And please don't respond without showing atleast a url with some sorta proof about hardware limitation if it is hardware limitation. Thank You.

Well I've had my iPhone for a little over a week now and already I've noticed a really annoying but very thin scratch on the glass front (over the screen). While it doesn't inhibit use, it is really annoying. (I knew I should have got that damn invisible shield, I've been running naked except for an Agent 18 case)

Anyway, I was google-ing scratch removal for glass and came across this site. Do you think that would work to remove the scratch? Does anyone know of anything better for removing scratches from the iPhone's glass front?

I'm going to go to the apple store and get a screen protector from them probably tomorrow. I can't wait two weeks for invisible shield to ship me one of theirs, and I sure as hell am not spending 40 dollars on shipping for a piece of plastic.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I baby the hell out of it, as I do with everything that I own. I've never dropped it or left it anywhere. It's only been in my pocket or charging in the dock when not in use. When in use I'm very gentle with it, so I don't know where this scratch could have came from.

Missed SMS or Call notification

How do you know if you got a missed SMS or missed call after the first alert has gone off and I assume it goes back to standby.
Do you have to take the phone out of standby and look at the display?

Some phones have a flashing LED which indicate a missed call etc or is displayed on the standby screen

How to add Videos to iPhone???

Believe it or not, i searched, googled, yada yada and found no help.

I'm trying to add movies to my iphone. I already converted the avi to mp4 using a converter. Now when I open itunes, i click the Video tab and the video isnt there. I have no way of browsing for it either.

I have also tried to go File>Import and browse for the file, then click to open and nothing happens. The file does not get added.

I also tried opening the Videos library and going "Add file to library" and nothing happens again. I double click the file, and nothing happens.

How do I add a video to my iphone????

Calendar events not showing complete messages

I have spent all weekend trying to sync my calender to the iphone .

My work calendar is in a sub folder in my outlook.While i tunes will sync perfectly with the normal calendar , the sub folder wont.

Ok , so i have now gone down the route of outlook to google ..google to the phone .This is working fine , but when i open my calendar i have just the first few lines of my calendar event!!!

Google and outlook show the event perfectly.

Is there anything i can do ..change some settings , edit some file ..its driving me nuts .

I dont think its just the sync software as i have tryed loads all weekend and they all do the same thing.

Also i have a few stray calendar apointments that i cannot get rid of ..which file can i go to ( iphone browser ) to clear these or is there an easier way

lots of people having 1.1.1 iphone suffers from unreadable SMS coming from banks,carriers etc. they say it has been fixed on 1.1.2 but is there any fix for 1.1.1 users? i do not want to upgrade 1.1.2 yet as i am suspicous about it and i stil could not find any solution for these flash SMS. any one found? by the way does upgrading to 1.1.2 causes any data loss?
