restore error 20. iphone keeps restarting. can't use iliberty+
dear all, this is the condition of my iphone:
i connect it to itunes and it says that it is in recovery mode, so i press shift and restore, select the 1.1.4 firmware and then it gives me an error 20.
i have tried with all versions of itunes 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7
Iliberty+ does not recognise the phone (the go for it button is inactive) and hence i can't use it
what can i do? i am really worried and any help would be greatly valued. not to mention great kudos to anyone that can shed some light into this problem.
thanks !!

Put it in DFU mode, you should then be able to restore it.
Maybe you must restore it twice.

DFU Mode for 2.0: Plug into iTunes...Power phone off... hold power + Home for EXACTLY 10 seconds... release power but continue to hold home (screen will be black)... and within 20 seconds iTunes will recognize it.

DFU Restore Mode:
1. Boot phone 2. Hold Power + Home until the screen goes BLACK 3. Continue to hold home and let go of power 4. Plug into iTunes (screen should still be BLACK) 5. Within 20 seconds it should come up in recovery mode 6. Let go of Home and hit RESTORE in iTunes.

If you're getting error (20), your iPhone is not in DFU mode. It's in a different type of restore mode (screen is blank in DFU mode).
Make sure to follow those instructions EXACTLY. I wasted tons of time because I wasn't.
If iLiberty+ can't kick it out of recovery mode after you've restoring, restore again. It's weird, but it works. Then, it'll take 15-30 seconds to kick it out.

Yes, you are correct DFU mode takes a couple of tried to get into that mode, but once you do the phone is very fixable. I have restored mine back to 1.1.4 with 3.9BL. Using the tutorials listed on this great forum.
