To me this says that the 3G iPhone can not yet be unlocked.. AND that if we're 1st Gen iPhone unlocked with T-mobile it will NOT work...
So for clarifications.. I have 1st Gen iPhone UNLOCKED with T-mobile.. Can I use this or not?!?!
|
Yes 1st Gen Phones on T-Mobile work just fine. I just did it to mine and all is good.

@ ClassiChelle - I said no, as in you are incorrect in your assumption that 1st gen with T-Mobile will not work.
Like I said, ONLY THE 3G iPHONE CANNOT YET BE UNLOCKED. The 1st gen iPhone can be unlocked fine. Meaning, your iPhone can definitely be used with 2.0, and T-Mobile.
ALL 1ST GEN iPHONES CAN BE USED WITH T-MOBILE AND 2.0 NOW, FOLKS.
In fact, if you look at the end of the guide, I made the whole thing with a 1.1.4 T-Mobile unlocked iPhone.

Don't worry about Terminal.
To put your iPhone in DFU mode, have iTunes open and the iPhone on, and hold down Home (button on front of iPhone) and Sleep (button on top of iPhone) until the screen goes black. AS SOON AS THE SCREEN GOES BLACK, let go of Sleep (the top bottom), but DO NOT LET GO OF HOME. THE SECOND iTUNES SEES AN iPHONE IN RESTORE MODE, let go of Home. The iPhone screen should be black. Now you're in DFU mode.
Note: PwnageTool will need to be quit, as well as any other iPhone modding applications.

I finally got it to work, I had trouble getting it into DFU mode. I found that I had my phone docked and I shouldnt have until it was time to put it in DFU mode and Pwnage told me to connect it, after that I followed the directions worked like a a charm, Thank you for the guide. It helped out tremendously!

@lillewis51 - some users have reported this, you just have to wait a few minutes and sometimes restart the iPhone as well.
If you're on T-Mobile, you also need to of course have checked the option to unlock the iPhone when you created the custom .ipsw file.
