Themes for iPhone 3G?

Hey guys,

just got the Iphone 3G and thus am very new to this (didn't have the previous iPhone).

Now I know that there are themes available for versions below 2.0 using summerboard etc. So I like to know whether there are themes or homebutton icons (called springboards?) for the 3G?

in the forums I saw post about changing the icons manually. first of all it will take a while, compare to the ready to download themes available on this site for example

and second the paths (folders) mentioned in those post are either for the older versions <2.0 or are too expertised (since I can find them on my iphone using iPhonebrowser).

so if you know anything or have any tips use a "for dummies" approach please so don't skip any steps nor provide telegraph style paths etc

FYI windows based, Iphone 3G (2.0), iphonebrowser

thanks a bunch in advance

Oh ps: maybe not a bad idea for the moderators to sticky this thread, for newbies like, desperately looking for help but getting confused by the jargon used in most other posts

SpringRoll

Springroll makes it hella easier.

EDIT: I guess there's nothing in there that proves it's on an iPhone 3G since I was on WiFi and my App Store is on the second page... Oh well, haha.

1. Install Ruby and OpenSSH on Cydia
2. Use SSH/SFTP to put "sr" into /usr/local/sbin (Plenty of tutorials on this out there so not gonna go into it)
3. Put the theme directory in /var/root/SpringRoll
4. Open terminal, connect to your iPhone via SSH, and type "sr theme THEMENAME"

Dock, Badge, Sliders, and such go in the root theme directory.

Icons all go in an "Icons" Directory. As you can see, it will show the correct filename that it looks for each program so if you have one wrong it is quite easy to change it.

Below is a log from when I SSH the Radiance theme onto my iPhone:

Quote:
[COMP NAME EDITED]:~ [USERNAME EDITED]$ ssh root@[IP EDITED]
root@[IP EDITED]'s password:
iPhone:~ root# sr theme Radiance

And there you go.
Your iPhone/iPod has been updated to
use the theme you specified. It'll
respring in a couple seconds.

If you ever want to restore the backup:
run 'sr restore'.
iPhone:~ root#
Hope that was a bit more helpful!

Does iphonebrowser get files from your computer to your iphone? I'm not familiar with that program. SSH works for me because it's just like FTP which I'm familiar with from working with websites. I don't know about iphonebrowser so I can't really compare it to using WinSCP.

I don't think iphonebrowser works for the 3g currently, but I'm not sure. I know you at least need an jailbroken iphone, if you want to get outside of the "sandbox" that is. BTW I really enjoy using this program as it is an excellent utility for accessing your iPhone filesystem from windows.

Iphonebrowser:

What about the main screen wallpaper? Does it change that?
