problems with customize 2.0

I downloaded and installed/applied a few status bar notifications so I can see if I get a new txt or email while in an app and they don't show up. I applied them to the Customize Images/Sounds > Status Bar Images > TaskbarNotifierSMS and TaskbarNotifierMail. Then I restarted my Springboard. Am I doing something wrong? I'm on firmware 2.0.
