When I pull icons off of the iPhone it will not let me open them. What do I need to be able to mofigy these icons?

The png files on the phone need to be processed first. Apple change the encoding so it isn't a regular/complete .png file.
Search the forum with the Search field at the top of your screen with "View PNG" and you will find all the different ways to do this.
