To download and play music what do you use? Typically the iPhone's included iTunes store to purchase albums and then the MobileMusic Player (iPod feature) to play your music.
Coming soon to Jailbroken iPhones everywhere (the beta testers got their copies a few days ago) PwnPlayer and iSoulSeek will look to provide the same service and functionality as the stock options except free downloads and a few other neat features thrown in the mix.
iSoulSeek is a newer 2.0 version of iSlsk a very popular port of SoulSeek to the iPhone. If you aren't familiar with SoulSeek it is a peer to peer file sharing app that has a lot of users sharing their music. The original iSlsk did a great job bringing this to the iPhone allowing you to download music and then import it directly into your music library. We've been... [Read More]
Unfortunately not all things come easy and quick. Don't worry though they are still working on an Unlock solution for the iPhone 3g along with a jailbreak for the iPod Touch 2g.
Over the weekend they hit a bit of a snag while playing around in the 3g baseband looking for an unlock solution. The baseband stopped responding the the iPhone OS completely.
Repeated restore attempts resulted in no change and only gave the dev team lists of errors. Somehow the hacking resulted in the SPI bus on the baseband chip to stop responding. Luckily simply updating the baseband and then downgrading fixed the issue.
While they have tried to repeat the error they have not had success and are going to continue working forward for the 3g unlock. You can read more at the iphone-dev blog.
Macbooks have always suffered a bit in graphics processing power because they don't have a separate graphics processor; Macbooks use the CPU to render graphics.
TUAW reports that the new Macbooks may have some Nvidia power in them which could add some more power and put the Macbook in a bit of a higher class. According to the source Nvidia has been showing off the new Nvidia powered Macbooks to their employees.
I for one wouldn't mind a Macbook with a little more giddy up in its go. Anyways the expected date of these new Macbooks is October 14th so if you're in the market to buy, hold out a little longer.
Live in Mexico? Want an no contract iPhone? Mundo Mac tells us that the Mexican carrier Tecel is offering no contract 3g iPhones as of October 3rd. Across the world over in Russia The iPhone went on sale on Friday. The prices in Russia for the iPhone are 23,000 rubles ($900) for the 8 gig and 27,000 rubles ($1000) for the 16 gig.
While long lines don't seem to be a major issue the iPhone seems to be fairly popular and Apple resellers are telling customers to get on a waiting list for the iPhone. One store manager said "We already have more than fifty people on our list, so it is... [Read More]
In the recent Firmware 2.2 seeded to developers there are a few very interesting hidden features:
A switch to turn off the loved or loathed auto correction. Maybe now your lols wont turn in to LOLS.
Google Street view. This is one of my favorite features of google maps. Street View is just neat. Now on the iPhone Google Street View provides 360° panoramic street-level views and allows users to view parts of selected cities and their surrounding metropolitan areas at ground level.
Japanese emoji icons. These aren't used much here in the US as far as I know but are very popular in Japan. They are little icons to add to messages and are also included in 2.2 which may help Japanese iPhone sales.
According to 9to5mac the rumored Apple "Brick" is just that. A brick. Well a brick of aluminum carved out into a pretty Macbook via a new Apple manufacturing process.
The rumor goes that instead of outsourcing Macbook production to China and Taiwan Apple will be starting up their own sophisticated manufacturing proess to carve Macbooks our of a solid peice of aluminum using lasers and high pressure jets of water.
Using this method is superior to the methods used to created Apple computers now and has some advantages.
Carving out of aluminum eliminates the need to bend the metal and create weak spots or microfolds and rifts.
There are no seams in the final product, so it is smooth.
Screws aren’t needed to tie the products together.
Thank you Obama. While I tend to lean a little right during presidential elections my vote has been swinging back and forth between you and McCain so far this election. In fact I do have a minor lack of confidence latey in Palin as the right person to lead this country in the case that McCain's health fails (hes old with some health issues ya know) and it was going to make Election '08 a tough choice for me.
My day goes something like this. Phone calls right when I wake up feeding me some one-sided view. On the way to work I ride the light rail and read the newspaper, usually containing some biased opinion about you or McCain which I attempt to avoid reading. Some more phone calls from one side or the other trying to get my vote. Then I go to lunch. Walking down the outdoor mall to buy food I get harassed by nice young people (usually from the democratic party) telling me whatever BS sounds nice trying to win over my vote. Then I go back to work and usually have a phone call or... [Read More]
I have previously said that FlyCast is better than all the other streaming music apps available for the iPhone for one reason. FlyCast allows me to browse the web while listening to music. I wished for that ability in my personal favorite AppStore app Pandora. Not only has my wish come true I can now check my mail, surf the net, and do other things while listening to my beloved Pandora (please don't die).
How is this possible? Backgrounder.
Released via Cydia Backgrounder is an extension to SpringBoard that allows applications that would normally be terminated when exited to run in the background. Not only is it awesome, it's also easy to use!
Enter the application of your choice. Hold the home button and you will see the message... [Read More]
