In other news the 16gb iPhone is back in stock in O2 stores. Of course if you aren't trying to buy your iPhone at O2 you'll have no luck. The iPhone is still out of stock everywhere else . . .
As if there is any doubt that the 3g iPhone is coming soon. Some 3g settings have been found in the 2.0 firmware.
The settings page was found in the latest beta release of 2.0 firmware. IF you don't know, 3g drains cell phone batteries very quickly. Don't worry in an effort to save some battery life Apple has included a setting to turn 3g off, and use normal slow edge instead.
So with your 3g iPhone you'll have a choice, murder your battery or surf at 1995 speeds.
While the Apple stores have been having a shortage of iPhones for a couple weeks now, the Apple website now is also saying there is no ship date available - looking more and more like the 3G iPhone is coming out soon.
AT&T employees on our site have already suggested a release date of June 15th, and today being the 10th and Apple not retailing any more iPhones suggests it may even be an earlier date.

The guys over at Schmap sent us a tip about their upcoming iPhone web app, schmap.com. Set to go live on Monday, May 12 (ModMyiFone readers can get an exclusive sneak peek at it by entering access code 724627 from their iPhone site), Schmap is a well-made cross between the Google Maps app on your iPhone, and CitySearch.
Open Safari on your iPhone and browse to their page, and choose your city. Once there, you can search through a huge list of different establishments in the town - including city info, attractions, bars, clubs, coffee houses, shopping, and restaurants. There are sub categories within each category.
