Installing Nintendo Emulator & Roms Guide

This tutorial is written using an Iphone 3G running 2.0.2 firmware, jailbroken. You can use these steps to install NES on any jailbroken iphone running firmware 2.0 or above.
We will break this down to 2 parts, installing the emulator and then uploading the roms.

End result should look like this

Lets start with the phone.

Step 1.

Fire up cydia installer from the phone.

Step 2.

Select featured packages.

Step 2.

Select NES listed under free applications.

Step 4.

Select install on the top right corner.

Step 5.

Click confirm and you should see a black screen start like below.

You should now see an NES icon on your iphone.
But there will be no roms there to play yet.

Part 2.

Uploading roms to phone.

Install SSH on your phone and make sure its running.
Iphone3G-Mods: Installing SSH

Step 1.

We're gonna assume you have wifi and you are going to connect to your phone in that manner to transfer the rom files. So connect your iphone to your home wifi.

Step 2.

Download some NES roms and extract them somewhere on your desktop.
You can download some Nintendo roms from here edit-Broomhead...No links to warez

Step 3.

Fire up Winscp and enter your iphone's ip address.
There are several ways to get the ip address. Goto settings -> General - > Network - > Wifi on your phone.

We're going to use 192.168.0.100 for the example.

After you enter the ip click login.

Step 4.

You should get a security messege pop up like so.

Click update or accept, first one on the left.

Step 5

When it prompts you for a password put in "root" and click OK.

Step 6.

When it prompts you for the password enter "alpine" and hit OK.

Step 7.

When you connect you should see a split screen like below. On the left hand side browse over to where you extracted your ROMs. On the right hand side select the drop down and chose var.

Step 8.

Next click mobiles and you should see this screen below.

Step 9.

Select media and below screen should show.

Step 10.

Here is where we need to create the directories. Right click on the right side and select new - > directory, or just hit F7 on the right hand side of the screen, does the same thing.

Step 11.

Create folder ROMs, then press ok.

Step 12.

Double click on ROMs, now you need to create another directory in here called NES.

Again type in NES click ok.

Step 13.

Copy your roms into the directory you created just above.

Reboot your phone and start the NES app again.

You should now see the Roms show up, click on it and it should launch.
