downgrade 2.02 to 2.01 iphone 3g help

Hi,
I tried to downgrade from 2.02 to 2.01, my problem is this. Oddly enough, my 3g reception has become worse with this update. I put the phone into dfu mode, then shift and hit restore with itunes 7.7 not 7.7.1. I choose the 2.01 and it starts to restore and at the very end I get the 1013 error. So, I tried iLiberty and the other tools tab, and was going to use the jump out of recovery mode button, but it's not highlighted and none of the other buttons in other tools are either. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Use a custom F/W of 2.0.1 and it will work with DFU mode.

Ok now now to feel even dumber than i already do with all this, noob time, whats a custom firmware? and where do i get them or do i have to make them and how would i go bout that ?

Ok tried the custom FW 2.0.1 by Prox and same old 1013 error .. I think the 2.0.2 baseband update is the prob, ah if only it could be downgraded. So looks like that 2.1 update is my only choice, now to sit back and wait

2-restart mac/pc
3-don't sign in itune ACC.

go to DFU Mode in iphone
click option/alt +roster
>chose custom F/W of 2.0.1

Otb 3g

Sorry about this newbie question...
I work on a mac.
So if I go out today and buy a new OTB 3G phone and want to pwn it using Pwnage Tool (The version for Firmware 2.0.1), and keep the phone at FW 2.0.1 until the new Pwnage tool comes out.... what do I do? Do I create a custom IPSW from the 2.0.1 restore file that's available, and proceed with pwnage tool as normal? Does anyone know what FW version the new OTB phones are shipping with, and if it's 2.0.2 should I downgrade first? Do I just wait until the dev team comes out with the mac version of Quickpwn or a new pwnage tool? So many questions... it's making my head hurt...

BTW... I may want to unlock the phone if it ever becomes available in the future...

Any help would be appreciated.

The answer is DFU mode!

I had the same problem... until I paid attention to the guide to enter DFU mode.

DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode is not the same as restore mode. DFU mode bypasses the current OS installed and allows you to upgrade or downgrade your OS. If you are getting errors trying to restore in iTunes, DFU mode is very likely for you.

This is how to achieve DFU mode. You can do it on every phone:

Method 1)

Attach the phone to the pc
Turn the phone off
Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.
At no point will the display come on. Now your restore should work.
Having problems? Try adjusting the 10 seconds to be slightly less like 9 seconds, then 8, then 7. It’s a tricky timing but you will eventually get it.

Method 2)

Hook up the phone powered on to the PC
Now hold home / power until the phone turns off and keep holding for 10 seconds. If the phone ever turns on during this phase, start over and hold for less time.
Now release power and continue holding home until the PC recognizes the phone.
I don’t like this method as much because there are “rumors” that it may cause some 1604 errors in the restore. I am not convinced of that though.

Method 3)

Attach the phone to the pc
Turn the phone off
Press and hold power. Keep holding power. As soon as you see display on the screen of any sort press and hold home.

» DFU Mode

I hope this helps.

how did you go from 2.0.2 to 2.0.1 on a 3G head set. ? only way to update to 2.0.2 is to have your baseband updated.

I started out with 2.0.1 by doing the update to 2.0.2 that caused my baseband to be upgraded, so now the problem is how to get around to downgrading cause 2.0.1 is a diff baseband ..

Btw thanks all for the help .. jailbreaked this phone on 2.0.1 so i have been able to get into DFU Mode .. but ill try the methods stated above ...

Right now im using 2.0.2 jailbreaked but my reception which was fine b4 has now gone south thanks to go old 2.0.2

Cadsil: Not sure if that was directed to me but if it was read that ^
