Got my please wait letter for my application to iPhone SDK Distribution certificate program. Guess I won't be making that digital bubble level any time soon
Anyone get an acceptance letter and request for their $99 ?

Nope. Just the "wait list" letter for me. From what I hear, everyone got this letter, and those who got "accepted" are confusing the $99 program with the free iPhone dev registration program.

software developers kit. the official iPhone sdk was just released by Apple...that means that developers will be able to LEGALLY develop native programs for the iPhone.

Dunno if I would say "legally" - implying that previous applications were "illegal". More developers can now make OFFICIAL apps for the iPhone, as in supported.

"official" might be a better word for it. although, i'm sure we're breaking some sort of license agreement by hacking. no?

you may own your iphone, but you do not own the software that's on the iphone. just like every other piece of software you "buy," you're actually buying a license for that software. when you buy, install, and use the software, you are agreeing to terms in the licensing agreements (that no one reads) that come with the software...you know...you always have to "check the box" next to the agreeing to terms statement.
that being said, i haven't read the license agreement for the iphone software...so i could be wrong.

Nope. No laws broken at all. Completely legal.
Only thing Apple can legally do (which they have) is say it voids your warranty, and refuse support on it. Even that's sketchy.

Then my current question is: "Can you still make phone calls?"
Tough to test a dialer app if you can't.
