Is Iphone Linux going to be command line or use a GUI program?

I remember using Linux a LONG time ago, like when I was 16, and it was a pretty fun, and STABLE OS. BUt I wonder how the project is going to work. That would mean a lot of developing to get the OS right to perform all of the functions of the iPhone. But another OS on a cell phone? One of my choosing? Im with it!!!

If anyone needs any help with design for GUI, menus, icons, let me know, this is a project I would definitely want to be a part of

The idea is to get it running as a GUI or else it wouldnt be to "fun".

can't any linux app be ported to osx? they're both unix flavors. it would be easier than porting a whole new os.

the point isn't to port an application it is to port an entire operating system. the os has to be made compatible with the hardware of the iphone/ipod touch. This isn't an easy task because they are set up so much different than a pc.

also in theory it would be a gui. but if this goes anywhere it probably wont get past just a kernal.

The whole purpose of porting a linux distro to the iphone would be that it could be used as a replacement OS. This would mean that it would be a full GUI. Not all distro's will be portable, since they have to be written to conform to the iPhone's architecture even though linux and os x are really just unix flavors . I'm sure we will see more progress soon.
