apple ships stuff as ACI, not Apple, so it's just someone trying to pull a fast one. They never put logos on shipping boxes, especially not something this secret.

We have the usual 'do not sell until x date' rubbish over at our place...we always open the boxes mind 
but then again im not an Apple employee who has been made to sign a NDA
real or fake? im not too fussed...this is all just the build up for monday  |

If this picture is legit, I bet they opened it anyway. Who wouldn't? Then probably when they did, something probably popped out and started screaming "YOU HAVE VIOLATED THE INSTRUCTIONS PRINTED ON THE FRONT OF THIS BOX. NOW SELF DESTRUCTING"
That would be creepy.

so if theyre supposedly shipping 3G phones right now, I guess its safe to assume that they have a gold 2.0 firmware already done, correct?

Fake. They could have at least put the label on the top of the box and not the bottom. They would have been taken a little more seriously. Plus it looks like some crappy piece of paper and not even a quality sticker (which is what Apple would use on a box).

DFU Restore Mode:
1. Boot phone 2. Hold Power + Home until the screen goes BLACK 3. Continue to hold home and let go of power 4. Plug into iTunes (screen should still be BLACK) 5. Within 20 seconds it should come up in recovery mode 6. Let go of Home and hit RESTORE in iTunes. |
