OK here it goes. Open mobile finder click the small apple button (second from top right), double tap Applications, move down to SMSD.app double tap again, tap once to sellect SMSD it will turn blue, click Modify button (middle button in the bottom) sellect all three buttons Read Write Exec for Owner, Read Exec for Group and Read Exec for Everyone and click Done to save it. This will give you 755 permissions. If you would sellect all nine buttons it would give you 777 permissions. Do the same for the Info.plist. Afet that you can exit mobile finder. If you need further help just ask.

You're welcome, the info.plist is in the same folder just tap once to sellect it will turn blue again and you can modify it. What firmware are you running on the phone? After you change the permission you can also tap modify again to see if the changes are saved and then click done again to get back to the folder. Also you might have to scroll to see the info.plist it might be further down. Hope this helps you out.

Thanks.. I'm running 1.1.4 trying to get smsd to run..

So far after pressing done, the changes are not being saved..

I did the following:
-on iphone, I installed SMSD 0.2.1
-downloaded SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip from: http://amrut.joshi.googlepages.com/)
-ssh into iphone via AFPd > Root File System >
---Applications > replaced SMSD with that from v0.2.3beta1
---Library > LaunchDaemons > replaced smsd plist

-on iphone > mobilefinder > click settings > Application Launch > Off
> Finder > double tap Applications > SMSD.app double tap again >

---select SMSD > Modify >
Owner: xRead xWrite xExec
Group: xRead -Write xExec
EveryOne: xRead -Write xExec
> select Done to save it.

---select Info.plist > Modify >
Owner: xRead xWrite xExec
Group: xRead -Write xExec
EveryOne: xRead -Write xExec
> select Done to save it.

Problem is when I select Modify to verify the changes were made, it shows that they have not..

Exit MobileFinder

But when I return to the SpringBoard > select SMSD, it still just hangs .. the goes back to SpringBoard

What am I doing wrong? I think so far the permissions still are not changed / saved as 755 ..

Thanks Again..

try - chmod 755 /file/path/of/file/to/chmod - through shh or terminal. Obviously you have to replace where it says /file/path/of/file/to/chmod to the actual file-path.

You might have a permission issue with mobile finder also, does it work for other files meaning can you change any other file's permission does it stick? I don't have 1.1.4 only 1.1.3 so I can't duplicate your situation. Also you might want to check weTool it lets manage sms and calls log and the latest version works for all firmwares including 1.1.4

You might find a fix in this post: Smsd

you need to delete the following folders, should they exist (pay CLOSE attention to their location--they are in /var/root):

/var/root/Library/AddressBook/
/var/root/Library/CallHistory/
/var/root/Library/SMS/

Then execute the following commands:
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/AddressBook /var/root/Library/
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/CallHistory /var/root/Library/
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/SMS /var/root/Library/

Then SMSD/WeTool-US , should work.Mine is perfect on 1.1.4 using Ziphone 2.5

Guys, Thanks Soooooooo Much for your help .. I tried MobileFinder, Squid & Term-vt100..
Only Term-vt100 worked to change my permissions!!! I now Happily enjoy SMSD!!!

For anyone else out there.. This is what I did to Get SMSD WORKING!!
-on iphone, I installed SMSD 0.2.1
-on mac, I downloaded SMSD-v0.2.3beta1.zip from: http://amrut.joshi.googlepages.com/)
-ssh into iphone via AFPd > Root File System >
---Applications > Replaced ONLY SMSD with that from v0.2.3beta1 folder
---Library > LaunchDaemons > Replaced smsd plist

-on iphone Change Permissions : select Term-vt100 > alpine (return) > type: chmod -R 755 /Applications/*
If you typed that and nothing happens, then you’ve done it correctly > Exit Term-vt100

Strangely enough, thou SMSD now works.. I decided to test out the Updated iSms.. I must say I found it to Better than the current SMSD.. and I now use iSms

Thanks Again Guys

mobilefinder has issues with 1.1.4 and wanting to stick the changes you make. I noticed I could execute a move or delete but the changes would not take effect when I use it on 1.1.4

I use my MB and transmit or cyberduck to do anything so not a big deal. I use squid to locate files since it is much more responsive and does the same thing since mobilefinder only works as a file browser on 1.1.4
