How do I find and add a standard sms tone, one i can hear 'cos the iphone is soooo quiet. It doesn't seem to allow adding of sms tones.

For windows machines:

on a jailbroken iPhone, i used winscp to replace sms tones. you're gonna want to install open ssh on your iphone first. to access your iphone use the ip address of your phone on your wifi network, "root" as username, and "alpine" as password.

Then navigate to /System/Library/Audio/UISounds/
and replace the files you see there. You should have six .caf files for the different sms sounds.
sms-received1.caf = Tri-tone
sms-received2.caf = Chime
sms-received3.caf = Glass
sms-received4.caf = Horn
sms-received5.caf = Bell
sms-received6.caf = Electronic

to get a .caf file use an audio converting program to change a .wav, .mp3 or whatever to .aiff format. change the extension to .caf, and rename the new file to match the sound you want to replace. using winscp navigate over to the files location on your computer and drag it on over to your iphone. Then logout and try it out.

Or create your own and add them via iBrickr - sounds. iBrickr will let you set any .mp3/.wav as any system sound. Works on any firmaware version.

you know i tried ibricker the other day and it wouldn't recognize that my iphone was jailbroken already. i've had the same problems with other programs like iphonebrowser and some other programs that use the manzana dll. it wasn't a big hassle, and i got what i wanted accomplished anyway.
