[GUIDE] Get connected to IRC via iPhone

This guide will explain to those of you out there on how to get connected- via iPhone- to the popular internet-based communication system known as IRC (Internet Relay Chat)
Before You start
This guide assumes that you have a jailbroken iPhone with the app Installer. if you don't have either of these, click here and find the guide specific to your Operating System and iPhone firmware. You also need WiFi, obviously

Getting started
First, make sure you have the ModMyiFone.com repo added to your list of Installer sources, if you don't already have it, you can get it by installing the latest version of Community Sources from Installer (current version 3.2)

In Installer, scroll down to the Network Category and enter it
-> installer_network.jpg

Then install ColloQ
-> Installer_collo.jpg

Once installation is complete, exit Installer and let your phone soft restart, and then tap on the new icon that you see on your SpringBoard

A blue splash screen will appear on colloQ, tap it to move on
-> ColloQ splash.jpg

You will be faced with a white screen. Tap "Add" to configure yourself a connection.

I will be using the MMi IRC as an easy example:

Enter the following info:

Host Name (the name of the server that your requested channel resides on ) : irc.moofspeak.net

Port 6667

Uses SSL ---> off

Real Name: Optional

Nickname: as you desire

Password: optional

Alternates: as you want

Connect on launch----> decide if you want it to connect to IRC automatically as you open ColloQ

Join Rooms: #ModMyiFone
(to add a second channel, leave a space between the first one and the second, example: #ModMyiFone #Secondchannel)

This is what mine looks like: IMG_0121.jpg IMG_0130.jpg
After you've done all of this, go back to the ColloQ connections screen and tap the connection you just created. It should look like this: IMG_0125.jpg

Wait until the yellow circle turns green! Then press "Done"

You will be connected to the MMi IRC Channel!

Tap on the #ModMyiFone channel that you see

Talk away!
IMG_0132.jpg

Want to talk to someone in private?
Tap the users icon in the top right hand corner,
Watch the list come up.
Tap who you want to talk to,
Tap Start PM
Then after that it’s a simple matter it’s a simple matter of finding the person you want to talk to!

Want to leave a channel?
Swipe your finger across the channel name, tap “Leave” IMG_0134.jpg

Want to disconnect? Tap connections at the Colloq main screen, and tap your connection again until the green circle disappears to show you are disconnected.

IRC responds to commands that you type, some basic ones are:

/join # -Join a desired channel
/nick -Change your nickname
/query -start a PM chat with someone in the channel
/me - do an action on the IRC channel, for example, /me likes chocolate would come out as: dale1v likes chocolate

hope this guide finds good use, I also have a Word document, if you need a copy, PM me

Don't forget to say thanks
