Does Visual Voicemail require an iPhone specific plan?

Yes it does. Sadly, its an at&t provided service only so you need to have their official iPhone plan.

Yep, whatever voicemail your provider uses will work fine, just AT&T, O2 and whatever Europe uses are the only ones that are set up for it

So just to be sure I'm clear on this.... You can have an AT&T Sim, but you NEED the specific iPhone data package to get Visual Voicemail, correct?

No hack to get it working yet, or 3rd party program?

Visual Voicemail is an AT&T specific service so I doubt you'll ever see a hack to add it to non-AT&T iPhone users.

This is one of the main reasons I chose to use ATT. Visual voicemail saves me so much time and it's so easy to use. The best feature iPhone has that other phone's usually don't.

I have AT&T and switched to the family plan this past month and now lost my visual voicemail? Is that an option thing? I had it jailbroke for 2 months, no problem with visual VM but this past 1st after the change my voicemail went down as in not set up and now it dials?
Anyone seen this?

If you are certian you have the iPhone data plan and are not getting your Visual Voicemail just call AT&T and they can fix it. Mine wasn't working on my Jailbroke phone either. I called them and they were able to find whatever the problem was. I haven't had a problem since.

The poroblem lies on AT&T's side. When you change your subscription (specifically to a family pack) the iphone doesnt mesh right with the system when done online and it ends up shutting down the visual voicemail part until it is reset again on AT&T's side.
