My friend recently got the new 3G iphone, so he let me borrow his old one to see if I could unlock it. I have T-Mobile.

I have two questions about the phone -

So far I have successfully used iLiberty to unlock my iphone, and can make calls on it, but I can't figure out how to get EDGE working on it. My current T-Mobile plan has unlimited internet. I have a Blackberry currently.

So my first question would be if anyone knows a simple way to get EDGE working.

My second question is how do I upgrade an already jailbroken/unlocked iPhone to the 2.0 (or 2.0.1 ?) firmware? I'd like to have access the the iphone app store.

I read you need a tool called WinPwn, but I also read that you would brick your iphone if you tried to upgrade a jailbroken iphone to any of the 2.0 firmware.

I don't want to do anything to break my friend's phone, because if I don't end up using it, he's gonna sell it.

A quick fix that worked for me for the EDGE problem was General -> Settings -> Reset -> Reset network settings.The phone is going to reboot, and after that you should be fine to navigate on your friend's iphone.For the second one I think you can use the WinPwn (or Pwnage Tool if you are a mac user) to upgrade to the 2.0.1 firmware.Be careful if you want to use the iPhone unlocked not to upgrade to the latest firmware available 2.0.2 as everybody talks that it contains an upgrade for the baseband, making it unlock-able after (at least until the dev-team comes up with a solution).

Ok just reset the network settings and still no option for EDGE. I don't have my SIM in there right now because I put it back in my current phone. I don't know if that would make a difference.
