ZiPhone uses 1 pass instead of 2 pass like iLibety+. It's just much safer to use 2 pass.

apparently ziphone permanently downgrades the bootloader, as in you never be able to upgrade the bootloader easily again. while iliberty safeguards this by first flashing a dummy bootload then the real one . it also has something to do with it loading something from ram or something which is safer.
dont even own a touch yet but ive been reading around

Ziphone only downgrades the bootloader if you tell it to, its not done automatically. And sure there's alot of bashing and hype, but no one has yet come forward with any real consequence of a permanent downgrade of the bootloader.

I have had no problems using ziphone for the touch, but I haven't used 3.0, I used 2.6b and everything worked fine for 1.1.4

I don't understand why people making a big deal on ziphone downgrading the bootloader. Bootloader 3.9 and 4.6 will operate the same way! Your phone not going to run faster nor better because you have 4.6 and I have 3.9 simple as that.

Well time to step in. Yes ZiPhone works a number of times without any effect that you, the end user can see. So did anysim 1.0.2. It looked good on the outside, people were like "WOW, amazing!". But, hey, they still had serious problems that we couldn't see. Be honest, how many of us know how ZiPhone works and know exactly what to look for in a working iPhone? After all, the average jailbreaker only spends about 30 seconds clicking the options he/she wants and sits back for 3 minutes grinning at how easy it was. Do I lie?
Yes Bootloader downgrade is not too bad. But it's kind of silly to do so and not have ZiPhone offer any option to upgrade it back.
Allocating too much memory on a ramdisk during 1 pass will cause memory corruption if there is too much data on it (think of it llike trying to overfill a ballon with water and hoping it doesn't pop, not smart). From there on, a chain reaction of events occur. Bad wifi, freezing, etc; all because of memory corruption.
With future firmware updates and more exploits being patched up by Apple, coders will have to write more code to try and jailbreak. That takes up space, and as a result, less and less room will be available for safe 1 pass jailbreak (there will be too much water and the balloon will burst). When your wifi goes grey or cannot connect to any network, the supposed ZiPhone 3.0 "fix" works by hardcoding the phone's MAC address to "Zibri" this alone causes network problems of the highest level. Not offering the option to easily change it back to your original leaves you in the dark when it comes to Apple's warranty. That is why it is so bad.
Oh by the way, once you use ZiPhone to unlock an iPhone, even if you restore and use another jailbreak, unless you virginize, your baseband will still be ZiPhone'd, and you will still be in trouble.
There you go folks. Join the OSX86 IRC channel and speak to iPhone-Dev team directly, or you can read George Zhu's or BigBoss's article on ZiPhone if you want to know more about/challenge/ignore this warning.
Your device people, your decision.

wow @ people not knowing the consequences of a permanent bootloader, the hell you gonna do when a new update/firmware requires the higher bootloader to run?? im not saing it will but your logic is crazy if you think anypart of your firmware being permanently stuck is good. thats like asking whats wrong with a computer having a permanent firmware, if that was the case we'd all be stuck on windows 3.1 lol.
