iPhone Backup Software

Hi all.

I'm looking for a piece of software that performs a complete backup of the iPhone (OS / Contacts / Settings / Installed Apps / Photos etc etc) not just photos and music.

Does anyone know if there is something out there that will do the job? If not, how about a command line method, although I'm not sure where it would dump the image.

Just a belt and braces really if the phone was to break and I had to buy a new one. Would be good just to be able to restore the image to the phone, reboot and have a new phone back to the exact state as the broken one.

Well iTunes takes care of contacts, books marks and all that, but there is nothing for mods like themes and apps. Probably because there are so many different ways of modding the phone. I suppose you could duplicate your entire drive and copy it back over but I don't recall anyone doing that.

Probably bet to just consider this a way to start fresh with apps and mods.

iTunes may backup some of the data but if you iPhone goes kaput and you have a new iPhone, there's no good way to restore all you had from one iPhone to the other.

There's a need for an iPhone backup program (and restore).

Someone was developing one but I have not seen updates lately (and IPhoneBrowser can do it semi-manually).

iTunes does backup preferences for third-party applications that put them in the proper place.

I think it is tricky to backup and restore properly without hooking into Installer.app so that it knows the application has been installed.

I lost some of my pictures in my computer, and the only place I have those pictures is in my Iphone, is there a way I can get them back from the Iphone. Also this Iphone is not sync with my current itunes photo library.

For fun:
Majority of what you want is in these places: WinSCP/etc into the phone and just download everything from these locations
/var/root/Library (for settings and databases such as sms and contacts)
/Applications (or /var/root/Applications) (for 3rd part apps)
/var/root/Media (for music/pics)
/System/Library (for settings)

is there a way of getting the itunes app from 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 on 1.0.2 im running 1.0.2 and pretty much all the apps i had in 112 are working on 102 for me i would lik to ssh it if possible ive looked everywhere here and couldnt find anything if anyone has any ideas please post or pm me if possible thanx

I just made a back up or all the dir's on the phone to my desktop. and now if i need to restore i just restore then copy over all my files apps and so on.. works like a charm

Great idea , and we could easily implement that as a feature of wiSync (used to be called iSync but we changed it for legal purposes) within the next 2 days. If anyone is interested in having the ability to automatically back up installed applications, hit me up with a pm or reply to this thread, or post on the wiSync development thread, and I'll have something released by tomorrow (or tonight if you're lucky).

today i searched on internet and found nothing
then i wrote an application for backup... it is on very early stages..
it can:
- imports-exports contacts, sms, call history, notes, calendar
- shows them on its own window,
-export them to excel,xml, html etc..
-print
-ringtone studio for convert and upload, download, delete ringtone for iphone


i will implement these:
- change/edit contents of sms, contacts etc
- import contacts from cvs, excel, text file
- backup of synced pictures (i wrote something but not inserted in this release)
- backup of camera image


it works over wireless at the moment.. but i will write something more depending on your requests..

I look forward to the day when, using either Pwnage or IPSW Builder, we can create a custom firmware that includes all of our apps -- everything installed on the iPhone at the time. I'm sure it'll be possible eventually...
