Poof allows you to hide and unhide apps on springboard. This was written mainly because customize does not work on 1.1.3 and there is currently no way to hide/show apps without this or doing it manually. This will work on older phones as well, but there are some things to be aware of:

  • Apps hidden shown by poof cannot be shown by customize. The method to do so is different mainly to support 1.1.3.
  • Apps are hidden by adding the hidden tag to the app’s Info.plist. Updates will most likely cause the app to be shown again. Just load and close poof after each update, and it will automatically rehide updated apps.
  • Categories is moving to the poof style of hiding apps as well to better support 1.1.3 and also because it’s safer. You aren’t editing the system display list and you won’t risk having “no icons” with this method.
  • A couple apps cannot be hidden in this release such as photos, camera. This will be solved at a future date.
