so i live in canada and have purchesed a first gen iphone. what will this mean for me. is there any reason to get a second gen and i dont have a rogers data plan.

ROFL Glad to see I wasn't the only one. I was all excited, and then my friend says something about having to wait a month, and my heart sank. 
New iPhone really doesnt impress me all that much, but I currently have a 4gig, and was planning on getting a larger one anyways. Might as well get the new one  |

The only real benefits would be the faster speed and the "GPS capability" - I use the term VERY lightly because it will likely require an Internet connection.
Sit back and wait until June 11 for grampa Rogers to decide how best to hose his fellow citizens. If he could find a way to assign values to individual characters, I am sure he would. "Unlimited vowels for $5/month".

Not a chance.
On another note, let's throw another log on the fire.....
I sell my 1st gen (which won't happen) and buy a 2nd gen. I want a second phone for my GF and put it on my family plan line, this means two iphones on a single contract plan @ $199 each.
Figure that one out, apple.
Now what ya gonna do? one user, one contract, one price @ $199..... no, ATT has family plans and multiple family members (some families as big as 5 or 6 for two parents and three siblings) will want a "set" of iphones. |

All the new hype and everything, but still no copy and paste and/or flash support, no saving attachments eventhough we're getting Exchange support, oh STILL no video and how can I forget... NO MMS message either...

i've just noticed this:
they only changed the back cover.. see it for urselves.. grab ur iphone and check the back cover.. the whole flat headphone jack.. bs! its just the cover.. and imagine the edges too.. same as well..
just make the comparison to see it..

Yep :/ is actually quite a let down, but hoping that the app store will bring a lot of these other features.
I think you CAN save attachments. at least you can save picture attachments.

honestly, what's the sense of having this phone if you don't have 3G in your area? you'll jjust have an old iPhone 1.0 with a crappy plastic back and NO (well, VERY FEW) upgrades!
also, if you DO have 3G in your area, 3G is proven to drain your battery as much as up to 54% faster!!!!!!
is that really worth it in the end?
not in my opinion...
