BootNeuter Fix( please read intro after this fix first to determine if you need to do this!):
"Well, after trying almost every iphone tool known to man, I think I found a fix for the "error 5". I was informed by another user (Thank you Dell!) that this error (error (5)) from bootneuter was because I had installed the iphone 2.0 firmware and tried to downgrade. When I did downgrade to the 1.1.4 firmware, the baseband did not downgrade. What I found that worked was using the ZiPhone 3.0 tool to use iErase to try and bring it back to the 3.9 Base Band. After I ran this function, I then used ZiPhone again with the option to Unlock, JailBreak & Activate. After this was done, the edge network was now working and I then used the Installer app to install the iclarified Base Band Eraser app and erased my base band. After this was complete, I then used Itunes to restore it to the out of the box 1.1.4 firmware. After this was all done, the base band was back to what it should be and the bootneuter app worked as it should."
This is your 4 step guide to successfully updating and activating with any carrier (only tested with att). YOU MUST HAVE NOT TRIED TO GO TO 2.0/1.2 BEFORE THIS. If you have follow the above steps in BootNeuter fix!
Step 1:make sure you are running version 1.1.4 pwned, unlocked, boot neutered and running on the 4.6BootLoader (pwned not restored to custom firmware, thats not necessary...just use iDemocracy to jailbreak)
Step 1 A:
if not unlocked and restored (because or on att or whatever reason) add this repo/source to your installer on your 1.1.4 phone
- installer.iclarafied.com
this will give you the iclarafied section in the installer
from there install BootNeuter and
-set your auto lock to NEVER
-open BootNeuter
- upgrade to 4.6BL
-neuter
-and unlock
lastly press on flash
Step 2: after you have BootNeuterd with the above settings (or if you if you skiped step a just ignore that sentence) simply grab a copy of the latest modded 2.0/1.2 firmware from "GOOGLE"
click on link to take you to a suggested goolge search.
Step 3: Aftter you have grabed a copy from "google" make put your iphone into recovery mode by:
-turning off the phone
-HARD STEP HERE: unplug, and as you plug it back in to outlet or computer hold the home button, if it does not turn on you held it too early and turn it off again.
Step 4:
resotre by alt clicking on restore in itunes to the downloaded 2.0 firmware
Step 5;
ENJOY 2.0!!!
