Bold text Here i will teach you how to make your own custom ringtone for iPhone(WINDOWS ONLY).....(30secs. max..)
- IMP** - the song you are about to convert should not be downloaded from iTunes, otherwise iTunes will recognise the conversion which we dont want happening..

STEP 1
select the song you want as your ringtone, then select your favourite part of the song which you want as your ringtone and note the timings down..(start time and stop time)...
It can be max. upto 30 secs.

right click on the song and click on 'get info'. click on the options tab and enter the start time and stop time of the song you noted down...
(IMP.. - at the end of the start & stop time add this - ".000" or whatever value you want from .000 to .999, this extends the duration of the ringtone..the value is to be added after the secs. value so the extension is quite short)
For Eg. -
Start Time - 0:10.334
Stop Time - 0:40.007 (dont forget to check both the boxes of start time and stop time)

Once you have entered the timings, close the get info box by pressing 'OK'

Now Right click on the song again and click on convert to AAC..
(IMP* - If convert to AAC option doesnt show up then:-
Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing > Import Using - AAC Encoder)

Once the song has converted, the time of the converted song should be 20, 30secs. or whatever you took the start and stop times as...
(IMP* - Once Again, The length of the converted song should not exceed 30.000 secs.)

Right click on the converted song and choose "Show in windows Explorer"

Once the window opens, go to Tools > Folder Options > View, and uncheck "Hide extensions for known filetypes"
(Vista users - press alt once the window opens and the tool bar menu should show up... then follow the instructions given above)

The extension of the converted song should show up as "whatever_the_name_of_the_song.m4a". Now Rename the song to "whatever_the name_of_the_song.m4r"

YOU'RE DONE...
Once you have renamed the file... you will be prompted by windows that "changing extension could cause unstability" or something,
Just press OK and iTunes should automatically recognise it as a ringtone file...
to check, double click on it to play it, it should start playing in the iTunes Ringtones Playlist...
Once the iPhone is connected, go to the ringtones tab and click on the ringtones you want to sync.... AND VOILA!!!
your ringtones should show up in the custom ringtones folder in the iPhone - settings > sounds > Ringtones...........!!!
