Mounting the 694-5259-38 DMG
NOTE: This method is a little outdated, and only works for the 1.0.0 firmware. The password for the 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 firmwares is 7d5962d0b582ec2557c2cade50de90f4353a1c1de07b74212513fef9cc71fb890574bfe5. The rest of the method is essentially the same.
Mounting the .dmg is useful for browsing the iPhone's stock files from your computer. There are TWO separate .dmg's, most of you will be interested in the 694-5262-39.dmg, but I will do instructions for mounting both here. Props to the dev crew for initial work on this.
Files you will need:
iPhone software restore file (91.2 MB .ipsw)
Step 1. Download that file.
NOTE: If you have already been modding, and have followed our Getting Connected guide, you probably already have this file, and can skip to Step 4. To check, look in your phonedmg folder for a file called 694-5259-38.dmg, if its there, skip to Step 4.
Once the file is downloaded, most browsers may automatically decompress the file and leave a folder called iPhone1,1_1 on your desktop. If your browser did not do this, and you have an .ipsw file instead, then rename the extension to .zip and decompress it yourself.
Step 2. Create a folder called phonedmg in your home folder.
Step 3. Place the software restore files you downloaded from Apple (the iPhone1,1_1 folder) into the
phonedmg folder. Do not place the whole folder in here, just what's in the folder.
Step 4. Go to your Applications folder and then go into the Utilities folder and find the program called Terminal. You should move this to your dock for easier access. Note that when typing in the terminal, everything is case sensitive. So watch your capital letters and lower case letters. Do not interchange them, they won't work.
Step 5. Start Terminal and type: cd phonedmg Then press the return key.
You'll see you are now in the phonedmg directory where all of your files that you downloaded
earlier should be.
Step 6. Type dd if=694-5259-38.dmg of=ramdisk.dmg bs=512 skip=4 conv=sync and press return. You CAN copy paste from here into Terminal.
Assuming all went well, you will see the following text in Terminal:
30710+1 records in
30711+0 records out
15724032 bytes transferred in 0.429180 secs (36637391 bytes/sec)
That last line may vary for you, thats fine.
You should now have a mounted dmg on your Desktop called ramdisk.
Thats it! Now you can browse inside there and see all the stock files from your iPhone.

Mounting the 694-5262-39 DMG
If you have already followed the first part of this guide, you can skip to Step 6. If not, here we go!
Files you will need:
iPhone software restore file (91.2 MB .ipsw)
vfdecrypt
Step 1. Download those files.
NOTE: If you have already been modding, and have followed our Getting Connected guide, you probably already have this file, and can skip to Step 4. To check, look in your phonedmg folder for a file called 694-5259-38.dmg, if its there, skip to Step 4.

Step 6. Make sure you have downloaded vfdecrypt and it is in the phonedmg folder. Assuming it is, type ./vfdecrypt -i 694-5262-39.dmg -o decrypted.dmg -k 28c909fc6d322fa18940f03279d70880e59a4507998347c70d5b8ca7ef090ecccc15e82d into Terminal and press return. NOTE: You can can copy from here and paste into Terminal. I recommend it. ;)
You should see the following output from Terminal:
Good. Now, in the phonedmg folder, you will see a file called decrypted.dmg. Double click on it.
Once you double-click it, you will get a mounted .dmg on your desktop called Heavenly1A543a.UserBundle'. Congratulations! This .dmg has most of the graphics and user files for your iPhone.
You can browse them from here in Finder now, and copy things to your computer!
