This guide will teach you how to unlock your iPhone using the 1.1.2 firmware. This is only required if you want to use another cellular provider. If you are already on 1.1.1 and unlocked, it will take about an hour to get through. If you are still on 1.0.2
This ONLY works if you were previously running (or are running now) an older version of the iPhone firmware, and upgraded (or are upgrading now) to 1.1.2. As of the writing of this guide (11.30.07), there is NO SIM UNLOCK solution for iPhone's which came with firmware 1.1.2 out of the box. Yes, the News forum will be updated when that is possible, and no, pm'ing/imi'ing/emailing me/cash/dev's/other site owners/members will NOT make it happen any faster. Thanks.
Here's the basic outline of the method we'll be using: Run OktoPrep, UPDATE to 1.1.2, Jailbreak, put the iPhone in airplane mode, unlock (anySIM1.2.1u). All right, lets get started.
- If you have accidentally upgraded to 1.1.2 before finding this guide, follow the guide to downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbreak/activate, then update to and jailbreak 1.1.2, then come back to this guide.
- If you currently on 1.1.1 firmware that is NOT unlocked, or any firmware older than 1.1.1 (and you did NOT buy an iPhone which came with 1.1.2 on it), follow the guide to unlock 1.1.1, then follow the 1.1.2 jailbreak guide, THEN come back to this guide.
- If you are running an unlocked iPhone runnning 1.1.1, follow this guide (just page 3, which is linked to there) to run OktoPrep and Update/Jailbreak 1.1.2.
All right, assuming you now have a jailbroken iPhone which you have upgraded from a previous firmware, lets complete the 1.1.2 unlock process!
First up, add the ModMyiFone.com Installer source. If you aren't sure how to do that, the guide is here.
Now, tap Installer on your iPhone home screen, and hit the Install button on the bottom of the Installer screen. Scroll down to the System category folder, and inside make sure you install BSD Subsystem if you haven't already.
Next, scroll down til you see the ModMyiFone.com category folder, and click it. Inside you will see anySIM 1.2.1u, click that as well.
On the anySIM 1.2.1u Package screen, hit Install.
You will get a message warning about an untrusted source, click Install. Don't worry, we're trustworthy. ;)
All right, after the install is completed, exit out of Installer (just hit the Home button), and go into your iPhone Settings and slide Airplane Mode to On and press Home again to get back to the iPhone home screen.
Now, you will see the anySIM red icon on your home screen. Again, making sure you are in Airplane Mode, tap the anySIM icon. You will see a screen come up telling you to slide to unlock. Do so, scroll down through the warning (read it, if you'd like), and tap OK, Unlock My iPhone.
Once that's completed, you're now running an unlocked, jailbroken iPhone with 1.1.2 installed! Congratulations! whew....
